Former Florida Governor Charlie Christ Tweets He Is Now A Democrat

Former Florida Governor Charlie Christ tweeted on a Friday that he has officially joined the Democratic Party. The tweet included a photo of the Christ holding a voter registration form which he will use to change his registration.

Christ was Florida’s last governor from 2007 to 2011 as a Republican. Upon the end of his first term Christ attempted to run for US Senate as an Independent. Christ lost to Republican Marco Rubio.

Supreme Court Refuses To Block Republican Attempts To Limit Early Voting In Ohio

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to block early voting in Ohio, turning down a republican request as the Presidential Elections approach Nov 6, election day.

A law passed by the republican controlled Ohio legislature limited early voting except for military and overseas residents and an appeals court re-instated the days removed.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, a Republican, appealed that ruling to the Supreme Court but today lost the republican fight.

Pennsylvania's Supreme Court Rules Voter ID Law To be Returned To Lower Court For Reconsideration

Pennsylvania's Supreme Court has ordered the state's Voter ID law back to a lower court for reconsideration saying it should be blocked if voters would be shut out by hurdles to obtaining ID cards.

The ruling is one of several in numerous states that have created so called Voter ID laws by republican held state legislatures. Republicans say it is to prevent voting fraud, despite actual voter ID fraud accounting for less than 1000th of 1% of all votes cast in the last decade according to opponents of such laws, and republicans do not deny the rate.

Mitt Romney Picks Paul Ryan As Republican Vice Presidential Candidate

Mitt Romney has chosen Paul Ryan has his running mate for the republican nomination and presumed republican ticket to go up against President Obama in the general election in November.

Ryan is probably best known to most Americans as the man who offered up federal budget plans for the republicans over the last few years that were met with a lot of political controversy and labeled as too harsh and too extreme too fast and not representing the realities of the American people.

President Obama Speaks To NALEO Conference In Orlando About Immigration

President Obama arrived in Orlando and spoke at the annual conference of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, NALEO, at Disney World's Contemporary Resort today.

Immigration is a hot topic at the conference with the presumptive republican nominee, Mitt Romney, speaking at the same audience yesterday when he blasted Obama's immigration and deportation policy changes by calling them temporary. Romney himself gave no specific details of his own plan but did say he had one and remained vague.

Senate Republicans Block Workplace Equal Pay Legislation

Senate republicans have blocked a democratic bill that would have made it easier to find out what pay range their co-workers are receiving and to help reduce the pay difference between women and men in the workplace.

The vote fell short of the 60 needed to allow the legislation to move forward in the senate for full debate and a final vote.

President Obama has said he strongly supports this bill and Mitt Romney's campaign has only said he supports pay equality, but Romney himself has not come out either way on the subject.

As the republican primary race draws to a close with Mitt Romney becoming the presumptive nominee, the financial reports of the two campaigns for March has been released with Barack Obama having $104 million in the bank and Romney with just $10.1 million.

Hoping to give the Romney campaign a boost, Sen. Marco Rubio has confirmed that he will attend several campaign stops with Romney. Their first campaign stop will be in Pennsylvania.

Congressional Panel Agrees To Final Payroll Tax Cut Without Cutting Medicare Fees To Doctors

A special congressional panel has agreed to the final payroll tax cut for the rest of the year without reducing fee's that medicare pays to doctors and will be voted on today.

The panel is made up of democrats and republicans who now says the only thing left are small technical matters on how to execute it.

"It appears that we may be voting shortly on this legislation," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, said Thursday morning.
