Three Shot In A Pro-Marijuana Rally In Denver

Three people were shot at a pro-marijuana rally in Denver Colorado on Saturday. The event is the first of its kind since the legalization of the legalization of recreational marijuana use.

Two adults were shot in the legs with non life threatening injuries while one child was injured by a grazing bullet. Police are looking for two suspects but have not released any further description.

The event in Denver was one of many that occurred in several large cities on 4/20 which is synonymous with marijuana use. The shooting in Denver was the only one with any violence.

United Begins Flight With 787 Dreamliner From Houston To Newark

United Airlines has announced that it will begin flying this week its news Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Houston to Newark, then to Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver and San Francisco in order to rank up 100 flight hours required by the FAA for final certification.

The proving flights will also include a trip to Amsterdam and Tokyo once the domestic flgihts are completed, along with simulated mechancical emergencies and flight diversions.

The FAA requires significantly more fligth hours for the 787 because it is the first one in the United States.

Trains At Denver Airport Stop Working Causing Long Delays

The trains that move passengers between terminals and the gates stopped working earlier this morning around 7:00am which caused very long delays for thousands of passengers.

Airport operators were able to get four of the five to work eventually, but the back up forced many to miss their flights. Officials believe the computers that control the trains stopped working.

The lines to get through TSA security was running about 1 and a half hours.

Airport officials eventually put busses on stand-by.

United Flight Suffers Bird Strike Damaging Nose Of Aircraft

Denver, CO -

A United Airlines flight 1475 from DFW to Denver was struck by an unknown bird while on approach to Denver International, about 25 miles from airport property. It was a Boeing 737-900 with 151 passengers on board. No injuries have been reported.

Damage to the aircraft was significant, with the nose of the aircraft that houses the plane's radar crushed in.

Officials have sent residue from the bird to the Smithsonian so that the bird type can be identified.

Miami Doplphins' Player Vontae Davis' Brother; Michael Davis Facing Murder Charges In D.C.

Michael Davis, 19, has been charged with murdering Colorado tourist Gary Dederichs in Washington, D.C. and is suspected in others, he also may be facing attempted murder charges relating to other alleged attacks in his Petworth area of the city. Davis is the youngest brother of Miami Dolphins' cornerback Vontae Davis. The other brother is San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis.

Michael Davis has also been charged with assault with intent to kill relating to other tourist who were allegedly attacked seemingly at random by Davis with a hammer.

Frontier Airlines Fined $50,000 For Violation Of Disabled Person's Rights On Denver-Fort Lauderdale Flight

Denver based Frontier Airlines has been fined $50,000 by the USDOT for violating a disabled passenger's rights and said the airline had violated the Air Carrier Access Act.

The original complaint said the airline was notified in advance about a quadriplegic who was traveling from Fort Lauderdale to Denver and would need help because he has no used of his arms, legs or torso, and that airline prohibited him from using a seatbelt extender to restrain his upper body, something the FAA says is prohibited but the airline allowed on three previous flights, including the one to Denver.

Wildfires Continue To Ravage Colorado, Federal Wildland Firefighters Take Over

Wildfires burning south of the Denver metro area have taken their toll killing an elderly couple and burning 28 homes. Federal wildland firefighter have taken over the lead efforts to contain the fire and extinguish it before it burns more than the 4,500 acres it has already consumed. Additionally, rescue crews consisting of 32 members and six dogs, are frantically looking for a woman reported missing by her husband, thought to be in the fire zone.

Family in Search of Christmas Tree Gets Lost in Forest, Calls 911 For Help

The days of going out to search for that perfect Christmas tree and chopping it down, hauling it back to the house and letting mom and the kids decorate it may have reached its end for one family.

Jefferson County Sheriff's spokesperson Jacki Kelley has confirmed that a call was received by a family lost in the forest mountains somewhere south of Denver near Buffalo Creek, Colorado.

Denver Airport To Get new Icelandair Trans-Atlantic Flight, First in 10 years

Icelandair has announced they will start new service to Denver from Reykjavik in May 2012.

The new flights are expected to bring millions in wages and economic business to Denver, who currently is served on Trans-Atlantic flights now by British Airways to London and Lufthansa Airlines to Frankfurt.

This will become Denver's 3rd International carrier. Denver is the nation's 5th busiest airport yet has few international carriers compared to other airports in the U.S., and is instead dominated by United Airlines with numerous flights to Asia.

United Airlines To Cut Capacity Across Network; Denver Cuts Especially Deep

United is cutting departure capacity at Washington, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles, averaging 5%, but as high as 17% at its Denver hub.

However, that can be a bit misleading for Denver; some of the cuts are because the carrier is shifting capacity to the Continental side, and some due to seasonal cutbacks that usually happen in September. But accounting for those, capacity is still being cut at least 5% above the same time last year.
