Suspected Smuggler's Jeep Gets Stuck On Top Of Border Fence Between Mexico And United States

Yuma, AZ -

U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered a jeep that had gotten stuck on top of a 14 foot tall fence separating Mexico and the United States near Yuma, Arizona.

Officials said that the jeep had already been abandoned when they arrived, but underscored how creative drug cartels are at getting drugs into the U.S.

No word on who had been driving it or what was in the Jeep, as it had been abandoned and emptied before Border Patrol agents arrived.

No word from the makers of Jeep as to how their premier 4x4 got stuck atop a fence either.

Mexican Navy Claim it Killed Zetas Drug Cartel Leader Heriberto Lazcano In Shootout

The Mexican Navy announced they believe they have killed Heriberto Lazcano (aka “El Lazca" and “El Verdugo” ), the leader ofthe Zetas drug cartel, in a shootout in a rural area of Progreso, Coahuila, and that they are awaiting detailed forensics to confirm this.

The Zetas are known to be one of the most gruesome and bloodiest drug cartels.

The Zetas cartel that Lazcano helped found with other deserters from an elite army unit has carried out some of Mexico’s bloodiest massacres, biggest jail breaks and fiercest attacks on authorities.

U.S. Jury Convicts Mexico's Gulf Cartel Manager Juan Roberto Rincon-Rincon Of Drug Trafficking

Following a week long trial in Brownsville, Texas, a U.S. jury has convicted one of the Gulf Cartels important managers of drug trafficking. Juan Roberto Rincon-Rincon was found guilty of all counts and was accused of heading the cartel's operations in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, a prime area for drug traffickers that borders the Rio Grande near McAllen, Texas.

Key testimony in the trial came from Rafael "El Junior" Cardenas-Vela, Jr., nephew of former Gulf Cartel leader Osiel Cardenas-Guillen, who is serving a 25-year sentence in a U.S. prison.

Mexican Marines Capture Head Of Gulf Drug Cartel Jorge Eduardo Costilla Sánchez

Mexican Marines have captured one of the most wanted drug kinpins in both the United States and Mexico, 41-year-old Jorge Eduardo Costilla Sánchez, who heads the Gulf Cartel and also known as El Coss.

As Mexico approaches celebrating its Independence Day Sunday, the news gave a new reason to be happy said Mexican prosecutors.

Costilla is also wanted in the United States on charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and threatening to assault and murder federal law enforcement agents, and his arrest sets up the possibility of an extradition.

HSBC Expected To Set Aside $2 Billion In Anticipated Fines Over Lax Security Allowing Money Laundering

HSBC Chief Executive Stuart Gulliver said it has set aside $700 million towards anticipated fines over lax security measures in Mexico and the United States that allowed the bank to be used in money laundering operations by drug cartels and other international crime organizations.

The bank also set aside another $1 billion for British consumers for misleading them on loan insurance and another $237 million to cover payouts to small UK businesses wrongly sold complex interest rate hedging products.

Despite ballots still being counted, Pena Nieto of the PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party) is expected to win, having a 37% lead over his closest competitor so far, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who has not conceded yet.

The official quick count, published by the electoral authorities (IFE), is based on returns from a sample of around 7,500 polling stations across Mexico and has a 0.5% margin of error.

Bomb Explosion In Nuevo Laredo Mexico Ahead Of National Elections; Cartels Suspected

A truck bomb has exploded in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico that was parked outside the town hall, injuring seven. So far police are reporting that there have been no fatalities.

Mexico's elections are just two days away in which voters will decide who to replace Felipe Calderon, who has waged a 5-1/2-year battle against drug traffickers and saw cartel violence spike resulting in thousands dead.

Top Suspect In Murder Of 49 People Found Outside Monterrey Captured

The Mexican Army along with federal police have captured Daniel de Jesus Elizondo Ramirez, aka "El Loco" ("The Madman"), who is a top suspect in the mass murder of 49 people, whose bodies were found in a mass pile alongside a road in Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon,, just outside of Monterrey Mexico recently.

Elizondo-Ramirez is a local leader in the Zetas drug cartel, and reportedly lobbed grenades at authorities as they closed in on him. Following his capture, he disclosed details of the brutal slayings according to police in Mexico.
