Florida Gov. Rick Scott Signs Bills Restoring Early Voting

Tallahassee, Fla. -

Hoping to end Florida being the "laughing stock" of state elections as NBC put it, Gov. Rick Scott (R) has signed a bill yesterday that will restore early voting among several other election updates.

Two years ago Scott signed a bill that cut early voting and defended it as recently as last year. However, due to long lines, a reduction in delegate counts at national conventions and complicated long ballots at the last election, Scott reversed course and signed the bill into law which will take effect January 1, 2014.

Jesse Jackson Jr. Pleads Guilty To Conspiracy In Misuse Of Campaign Funds

Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has pleaded guilty in federal court today saying "I am guilty your honor". Jackson was charged with conspiracy that involved more than $750,000 in misuse of campaign money that he used for personal reasons to buy exotic and expensive items.

The money was allegedly spent on items including $5,000 football signed by U.S. presidents, $9,600 worth of furniture and a $43,000 gold-plated men's Rolex watch plus numerous other expenses, gifts and contributions by Jackson using campaign money.

Florida Officially Certifies Election Results Just In Time For The Holidays And The Upcoming Presidential Inauguration

Holding its head high, Florida has now officially certified the state's 2012 election results, just in time for the presidential inauguration coming up in January 2013, and after waves of public criticism against the republican party and the state canvasing board for how it handled the elections process. The rest of the country re-elected Barack Obama on November 6, and while everyone knew he had won, Florida could not say officially which way it voted, until today.

Petitions To Secede From U.S. Increase; Some Want Out, And Some Want In

Washington, D.C. -

Since the elections, there has bee a major increase in petitions by residents of various states to secede from the union, with Texas leading the way with over 100,000 signatures.

In fact, there are now petitions from residents of all 50 states, or at least petitions by someone else for another state to secede.

The whole seceding process is becoming increasingly complicated, as several states have now passed the mark President Obama said was needed to guarantee a response from him, 25,000.

Nephew Of Former President George Bush Files Paperwork To Run For Next Election

The son of Jeb Bush, George Prescott Bush, has filed his election paperwork in Texas, to be eligible under campaign finance law, to run for office in Texas. George P. Bush is Hispanic, with his mother being from Mexico.

The 36-year-old owner of a consulting firm in Fort Worth is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, nephew of George W. Bush, former President of the United States.

Obama Wins Re-Election In 2012

President Barack Obama has won his bid for re-election based on projections, cinching it with the Ohio vote coming in at 11:19pm eastern time.

Throughout the night as the vote came in, Florida remained too call to call, making the other swing states give Obama more than the 270 electoral votes needed to be re-elected president. At present, Obama has 303 electoral votes with only Florida yet to be called.

According to the popular vote, Obama is only ahead nationally by 40,699 votes. Also in the vote, 30 republican governors will govern their states.

Polls Open In Florida; Where To Vote; Lines Are Both Long And Short Depending On Precinct

The polls have opened in Florida with some precincts reporting little or no lines while other say line are two hours long. So far, in the more democratic south, polls have had longer lines than in northern florida where it is more republican dominated.

Elections officials said they are not sure if the weather will play a part in who gets tot he polls. A low pressure system bring cold winds from up north is moving over Georgia circulating the winds down to Orlando.

The First Polls Have Already Closed In N.H., Results Are In, Obama Wins 2012 Elections In Hart's Location, N.H.

The first polls in Dixville Notch, N.H. and Hart's Location have closed and the results have been counted.

In Dixville, the votes were tied, five for the incumbent president, Obama, and five for republican challenger, Mitt Romney.

In Hart's Location, the vote was considerably more clear with 23 votes for Obama, nine votes for Romney and one for Libertarian Gary Johnson.

Both towns have been the first to cast ballots in the nation since 1948, with polls opening just after midnight.

China Said To Be Secretly Considering Democratic Like Elections For Top Positions

According to reports, Chinese President Hu Jintao and his heir, Xi Jinping are proposing an election styled process of selecting the country's leadership, which happens once every 10 years.

Instead of the usual politburo selecting the next leader, both are quietly advocating a process which requires more levels of voting and that there be more candidates than seats available, something now not done ensuring everyone gets a seat.
