Best Buy Names A French Knight As Its New CEO, This Will be The 3rd CEO In 6 Months

Best Buy has named Hubert Joly, a knight in the French National Order of Merit, as its third CEO in just six months, hoping to return the ailing electronics retailer to profitability. Joly is a French native and is awaiting a Visa to come to the U.S. and work.

Best Buy touted its choice citing Joly's past experience turning around companies like EDS and Vivendi’s video game business before it became part of Activision Blizzard.

Best Buy To Close 50 Stores; Focus On Best Buy Mobile Expansion

Minneapolis based Best Buy, a specialty electronics retail giant, said it will be closing 50 of its under preforming stores in an effort to stem losses of $1.2 billion and will focus on expanding its booming Best Buy Mobile retail unit. The move came as the retail chain took $2.6 billion in charges related to it's purchase of Carphone Warehouse Group PLC and the profit sharing agreement.

Microsoft Pulls Out Of Consumer Electronics Show, Decides To Go It Alone; Copies Apple

Microsoft has decided to pull out of the Consumer Electronics Show after its Jan 2012 presentation and go it alone in announcing its products. Apple does not participate in the CES's annual event.

Microsoft said in a statement that it is in a fast changing industry and it needs to have more freedom to roll out and announce its products as things move and change.
