Hughesville, MO –
A natural gas pipeline exploded just before midnight on Thursday and set off a large fire near Hughesville.
The 30-inch wide natural gas pipeline is owned by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. The company operates 6,500 miles of pipeline in the Midwest delivering natural gas.
It ruptured for an unknown reason sending a fireball so large it could be seen and heard from miles away.
Nearby residents were evacuated and only seven buildings in the nearby farm caught fire and were destroyed. No injuries or fatalities reported.
