Regional Carrier SkyWest/ExpressJet Lose 30 Cites Under RFP Contract Renewals With United: Cities Listed

Regional carrier Skywest, along with its subsidiary ExpressJet, have lost 30 cities that were under RFP renewals. Additionally, ExpressJet will be losing another eight cities as United combines services at airports that were served by ExpressJet under a Continental CPA agreement and that also have United mainline service.

Notices went out to ExpressJet employees, offering them $1,000 to stay with the company until it turns over the 14 stations to the winning bidders, something that many employee's have called a "slap in the face."

United Flight 4128 Makes Emergency Landing In Corpus Christi Texas

United Airlines flight number 4128 made an emergency landing in Corpus Christi (CRP). The flight originated from Harlingen, TX and was to land in Houston (IAH).

Shortly after take off in Harlingen, the crew reported an unknown loud noise and diverted the flight to Corpus Christi. Upon landing, the ERJ145 aircraft's front landing gear suffered damage and a flat tire.

United and Continental To Get Single FAA Operating Certificate Wednesday Morning; Merger Continues

The merger process appears to be moving along just fine as the two airlines Continental and United are to get a single operating certificate Wednesday morning from the FAA. This means, as far as the FAA is concerned, they are now one airline. Continental pilots operating Continental flights will begin using the call sign "United".

Despite being one airline now, the world's largest, passengers will continue to see it as two separate airlines, with both still operating their own ticket, check-in and boarding processes.

ExpressJet It Is, Goodbye SureJet and So Long Atlantic Southeast

Atlantic Southeast Airlines, ASA, will become ExpressJet, XJT. ASA, owned by SkyWest, previously bought ExpressJet, in a further consolidation of air carriers and had came up with the name SureJet as the new combined company's name for ASA. Shortly after the thud, the company recalled the name and stuck with ASA for the time being.

But now, after all things considered, airline officials have decided to call themselves ExpressJet. Company officials decided the name has good brand reputation, and as of 2010 ranked high in customer satisfaction for regional carriers.
