Ford has announced that it is closing two factories affecting up to 5,000 employees and is in talks to possiby close a third plant.
News of the European closures come as auto sales across Europe are at a 20 year low and the E.U. continues in deep recession.
The Southampton Transit van factory in Britain and a stamping plant in Dagenham are slated to close nexr year ad Ford adjusts to lower demand and lower sales in Europe.
Ford is also in duscussions to close its factory in Genk, Belgium which makes the Mondeo and S-Max models, both cars that target the European market.

Ford's new updated 2013 Ford Fusion is hoped by many within the company to return Ford to the top of the mid-size car sales leader in American, something not seen since 1996 with its Ford Taurus.
The mid-sized car market is the most popular sized car sold in the United States and the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord have held the spot for the last 16 years.

Ford has issued a large recall for its popular Escape SUV due to a problem with the throttle becoming stuck open creating an uncontrollable situation.
The recall covers 484,600 Escapes ranging from model years 2001-2004 model years with the 3-liter V6 engine.
The majority of the affected vehicles are in the United States, but some are also in Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia.
The problem specifically is about the cruise control cable on the Escapes becoming either stretched, frayed, broken or rigid.
June sales saw a big jump at the nations auto manufacturers, with all 3, GM, Ford, Chrysler all posting large gains.
GM posted a 16% gain with Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac all reporting double-digit increases. Sales of crossovers were up 30% compared to last year.
Ford saw a 7% increase in sales compared to last year with its redesigned Ford Escape up 28% and its Fusion also posting very well. The F series pick up truck, the nations best selling vehicle, 11% as gas prices began to moderate, with other 50,000 sold in June.
Ford has announced that it plans to build another assembly plant in China to meet growing demand in the world's largest auto market. The new factory will cost $760 million and will be built in Hangzhou.
News of this planned expansion comes just two weeks after it had announced yet another new plant in Chongqing costing $600 million, and after just completing a third factory also in Chongqing near its original plant.

Ford has announced a $1.3 billion investment in its auto manufacturing facility in Hermosillo Mexico in order to increase production and expects to add up to 1,000 news jobs as a result. This follows recent news that Nissan is investing $2 billion into a third plant in Mexico.
Mexico is currently the world's fifth largest automobile exporter and as Mexican President Felipe Calderon says, were "about to move into fourth place." The expansion of its Hermosillo plant will allow ford to ramp up production of its Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models.

The Central Florida International Auto Show is happening, Nov 24-27 at the Orange County Convention Center. The main showrooms are located in the West Concourse and parking is $10, adult admission is $9.
This year, manufacturers are highlighting their test drives, with many offering licensed drivers over 18 years old to take one of the show cars for a spin on the course set up at the convention center.

A Ford F-150 and a school buss collided at the intersection of SW 17th Place and SW 34th Street, near Gulf Middle School.
17 students complained of injuries and were transported to local hospitals, however the fire chief said injuries sustained appear to be minor.
