France Is Trying To Buy Unmanned Drone Aircraft From U.S. Or Israel

France's defense minister, Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, has confirmed that France has begun talks with the United States and Israel in an effort to buy unmanned drone aircraft as part of its war fighting capabilities.

The move comes after France learned during its military action into Mali that is has fallen behind in military capability and had to rely on the U.S. for transportation and intelligence.

France To Become 14th Nation To Approve Gay Marriage

France is set to approve gay marriage after its lower house of Parliament approved gay marriage legislation. The vote was 331-225 and followed increased homophobic attacks on suspected gays across the country after the Catholic church lead an effort to prevent its approval.

French President François Hollande championed the legislation he submitted, "marriage for all", as part of his socialist left-leaing stance that got hi m elected.

Iran Announces It Will Sue Hollywood Over The Movie 'Argo'

The Iranian government has hired French attorney Isabelle Coutant-Peyre and announced that it plans to sue Hollywood over the Oscar winning movie 'Argo'.

According to Coutant-Peyre, Iran recently received the film and was screening it before being released to the public and that Iranian officials believe the movie is an "unrealistic portrayal" of the country and the events during the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran when the American Embassy was stormed an American's were held hostage for 4444 days.

Horse Meat Scandal In Europe Growing To Schools

The horse meat scandal in Europe is growing larger by the day. Officials in England have confirmed that a dish served in 47 schools was pulled after tests confirm the presence of horse meat. Over the past week horse meat was found in meals labeled as beef sold in supermarkets in Britain, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, and Ireland.

Additionally official in Ireland last month found both Horse and Pig meat in hamburger products. This being a large concern for Muslims and Jews who’s religion forbids the consumption of pork. Additionally Jewish dietary law forbids the eating of horse.

U.S. Providing Airlift Capabilities To French Military Mission In Mali

The U.S. Air Force has been providing airlift logistical operations to French troops for its part in an international operation lead by the French.

France sent combat troops to Mali to take on Al-Qaeda linked groups who have been expanding territory they control to the south.

Armored Carriers, Troops, helicopters, and supplies are among the items being flown into Mali by the U.S.

7 Americans Taken Hostage From BP Natural Gas Plant In Algeria After Attack Killed 2 Others

Seven American have been taken hostage Wednesday morning from a natural gas plant in Algeria that was run by BP during an attack which also killed at least two others. Six are believed to have been injured, including two Algerian policemen.

The incident comes after France attacked an al-Qaida-linked Malian rebels groups, and Algeria supported the action, and the U.S. provided logistical support to the operation.

More Violent Strikes Across Europe Protesting Budget Cuts And Tax Increases

Much of Europe remained mired in a strike today that has seen strikes and violent protests spread from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece to countries like France, Belgium and Germany.

Demonstrators have been unhappy with deep government cuts to government pensions, salary cuts to government jobs, and tax increases on everyone, some so steep, as much as 55%, it forced bankruptcies and suicides for those with no savings and already living on the end.

France Could Pass Nutella Tax To Reduce Obesity

The French senate has passed a tax on the hugely popular Nutella spread, tripling the tax already on it.

The tax also applies to other products that also utilize palm and vegetable oil in high amounts and is an attempt to combat the increasing obesity rate.

France's lower house must not pass it before it came become law.

The measure is part of a bigger bill on financing the national health care system and aims to push manufacturers to use healthier alternatives.

Europe Going Back Into Recession, France Says It Will By The End Of 2012

European leaders are fearing another recession for the continent as France's central back says it will likely slide back into recession by the end of 2012.

The Bank of France said that it expected growth to shrink by another .01% in the last quarter of 2012, and that is already on top of the .01% it previously announced.

France's new government is caught between making budget cutbacks to meet European Union debt requirements or spend more and risk damaging its ratings with other countries.

French Woman Received $15 Quadrillion Cell Phone Bill

Recently, Solenne San Jose received a phone bill for $15 Quadrillion dollars after canceling her mobile phone contract early. San Jose was told by her provider she would have an early termination fee added to her next bill, but did not question how much.

After receiving the bill, San Jose caller her wireless carrier (Bouygues) to dispute the bill and was charged another $12 bucks each time time she called and spoke to a representative.
