George Zimmerman's Defense Attorney Mark O'Mara Releases Witness List;. SEE FULL LIST

Defense Attorney Mark O'Mara has released the second witness list in the upcoming trial of George Zimmerman who is accused of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin with a single shot to the chest at point blank range citing self defense.

On the list is officials, officers and employees with nearly every law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in Sanford Florida, including Seminole County, the city of Sanford, FDLE, medical examier's office, and the state prosecutors office.

Port Canaveral Officer Fired For Using Gun Range Target Posters Resembling Trayvon Martin

Port Canaveral officer Ron King was fired from the police department after a probe revealed he was using a gun target resembling Trayvon Martin in a training class. The targets displayed a hooded sweatshirt with a target on its chest along with along with skittles and iced tea in hand.

The targets used were sold online and sold out within two weeks.

Trayvon Martin was shot last year in Sanford by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman after a confrontation. Zimmerman is still awaiting trial for murder where he contends he was in use of the Stand Your Ground law for self defense.

Parents Of Trayvon Martin Settle Wrongful Death Suit Against Homeowner's Assc

Sanford, Fla. -

The parent of Trayvon Martin have settled a wrongful death lawsuit they filed against the homeowner's association where their son was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was the neighborhood watch captain for the homeowners association's neighborhood watch program.

The exact amount has not been released, and in court documents that were made public, the amount was redacted. Later in the 5-page settlement agreement, it states both parities agree to keep the amount confidential.

Sanford's New Police Chief Sworn In, Replaces Bill Lee After Death of Trayvon Martin

Sanford, Fla. -

The city of Sanford, Florida has sworn in a new police chief, Cecil E. Smith, Monday morning after he accepted the job in January. Smith replaced embattled chief Bill Lee who was fired following the shooting death of Trayvon Martin by accused suspect George Zimmerman.

Smith held the position of Deputy Chief of the Elgin, Illinois poice department before eventually moving to sunny Florida.

Smith will earn $114,757 annually, according to city officials.

Lead Investigator In George Zimmerman Case, Chris Serino, Has Hired Former Casey Anthony Attorney Jose Baez

According to reports, the lead investigator in the George Zimmerman case, Chris Serino, has hired the attorney who previously represented Casey Anthony.

Serino was the subject of criticism after police reports were leaked in which he filed an arrest affidavit for George Zimmerman but was shut out when Sanford Police CHief Bill Lee publicly said there was not enough evidence to arrest Zimmerman.

Lee later was forced to resign over his handling of the Zimmerman case and how he directed his department in its handling.

Zimmerman's Defense Wins Motion To Subpoena Martin's School and Facebook Records

Sanford Judge Debra Nelson has approved the defense's motion to subpoena Facebook and school records of Trayvon Martin saying in a self-defense claim, George Zimmerman does have the right to investigation the victim's propensity for violence.

The judge also said for now, the results will remain private for now, but could likely become public at the trail.

Prosecutors In George Zimmerman Case Motion For Judge To Issue Gag Order

One of the prosecutors in the George Zimmerman case, Assistant State Attorney Bernie de la Rionda, is asking Seminole County Circuit Judge Debra Nelson to issue a gag order on the defesne team.

Rionda has accused the defense multiple times of posting news and information about the defense's claims on a website maintained for George Zimmerman.

In one such posting, lead defense attorney Mark O'Mara clomplains that Rionda still has not turned over key pieces of evidence hat is required under discovery rules in Florida.

George Zimmerman's Attorney Filed Motions To Obtain Facebook, Twitter, And Cell Phone Records of Trayvon Martin

Lawyers for George Zimmerman have filed motions seeking to obtain Facebook, Twitter and mobile phone records of Trayvon Martin calling the motion "reasonably and calculated" in discovery to lead to evidence.

The defense has said that the material they are seeking is also relevant to their defense preparation.

George Zimmerman is facing second degree murder charges for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a fact Zimmerman does admit but claims an affirmative defense under Florida's "Stand Your Ground Law".

George Zimmerman's Attorney Subpoenas Trayvon Martin's School Records To be Used In Defense Case

Attorney's for George Zimmerman has sent subpoenas to Trayvon Martin's school seeking his records including tardiness, and disciplinary actions.

Martin was suspended by Miami-Dade County schools because traces of marijuana were found in a plastic baggie in his book bag. He was serving the suspension when he was shot Feb. 26 by Zimmerman in Sanford Florida while walking back from a 7-11 with snacks during the NBA All-Star game that he and his father were watching.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder. He is pleading not guilty, claiming self-defense.

Judge In George Zimmerman Trial Rules Against The Defense By Refusing To Step Aside

Judge Kenneth Lester has ruled this morning that he will not step aside, after a defense motion three weeks ago for the Judge to recuse himself arguing that George Zimmerman will not get a fair trial and that the judge has already showed bias and unfairness.

Mark O'Mara, Zimmerman's defense attorney, made the motion because Judge Lester had wrote in a bond order releasing Zimmerman that Zimmerman is manipulator who was gaming the criminal justice system, which some have said is a conclusion or conviction of guilt by the judge.
