Party At UCF Apartment Housing Ends With One Man Shot Dead

Orlando, Fla. -

Orange County deputies are looking for a light colored Ram pickup truck after witnesses say it left the scene of a shooting at a party at UCF's Gatherings Apartments in which 24-year-old Brandon Benjamin was shot. He later died at Florida Hospital East.

According to witnesses, a light colored full-sized Ram pickup truck with a hood ornament and rust on the side was seen leaving the area and police are searching for that vehicle.

The incident happened at 3852 Gathering Drive, where Benjamin was found on the ground with a gun shot wound when deputies arrived.

Man Pulls Gun On Another Customer At Publix Supermarket

Palm Bay, Fla. -

Police in Palm Bay have arrested 31-year-old Derek Dimsey after he had an argument with 50-year-old Kenny Mercado Sr. who was another customer at the Publix on Bayside Lakes Boulevard store.

The incident started when the men, who don't know each other, accidentally bumped into each other inside the Publix. Mercado apparently lashed out and hit Dimsey who in turn pulled his gun on Mercado.

The incident ended without any injuries after Publix employees were able to separate the two men.

Woman Shot To Death On Forest Run Lane In Dr. Phillips Area of Metro Orlando

Orange County, Fla. -

Orange County deputies responded to an alarm call early this morning around 5:30am and found a female shot to death in a house located on 8600 block of Forest Run Lane in the Bay Hill / Dr. Phillips area.

According to deputies, the woman had multiple gun shot wounds. Also found in the home was the woman's 2-year-old son.

Her name has not been released yet.

Police Release Identify Of Suspect In Miami Beach Killing Of Robert Lakatos

Miami Beach, Fla. -

Police in Miami Beach have named Pedro Exposito as the suspect they say shot and killed 16-year-old Robert Lakatos during a robbery gone wrong on Miami Beach.

Police say they believe Exposito is somewhere in Central Florida after being spotted in Citrus and Marion counties and going by the name "Mike".

Police say that after several leads fell through they decided to release the name of the suspected killer in hope of getting public help to locate Exposito.

Suspect In Shooting At Lauderhill U-Save Store Ordered To Be Held Without Bond

Gevaenydd K. McKenzie, 40, has been ordered to be held without bond Thursday over charges of attempted murder after turning himself in to police over the July 31 shooting at the U-Save convenience store in Lauderhill.

The victim, 21-year-old store employee Ramzi Foqahaa, has been partially paralyzed from his injuries sustained in the shooting.

The Accused Shooter In Wisconsin Identified As Previously Dicharged From Army For Disorderly Conduct

The accused shooter at the Wisconsin Sikh temple located in Oak Creek, Wisconsin has been identified as Wade Michael Page. In all, seven people, including the suspect, were dead and three others were critically wounded in what police have labeled an act of domestic terrorism by local police.

The FBI is also on the scene but has stopped short of calling it terrorism, instead describing it has a criminal matter for now while they continue to investigate what happened.

Drive-By Shooting In Sanford Kills 1, Injures 2 More

Sanford, Fla. -

According to Sanford police, a drive-by shooting happened in Sanford overnight, killing one and injuring two more. 18-year-old Pernecia KeAmber Jones was pronounced dead at the Central Florida Regional Hospital. Marvin Joe, 29, was taken to ORMC and Javon Roberts, 19, was able to get to the hospital on his own.

Police said they believe the shooting was drug related and that they had found drugs on one of the victim's car.

Police are searching for a white sedan believed to have been driver by the unknown gunman, which they are also still searching for.

Justin Mitchell Arrested After Forcing 7 Year Old Florida Boy To Smoke Pot At Gunpoint

Walton County, Fla. -

Police have arrested 26-year-old Justin Blake Mitchell after deputies say Mitchell hit his wife and pointed a gun at the boy and forced him to smoke marijuana saying if the boy didn't, he'd shoot him.

He then turned the gun on his wife and threatened to shoot and kill her as well and then robbed her of cash and personal property according to the arrest report. Additionally, he's been accused of stealing another man's debit card and robbing another woman.

Michell is being held in the Walton County Jail with no bond.

Police Looking For 2 Armed Gunman In Palm Bay After Shooting

Palm Bay, Fla. -

Police in Palm Bay are looking for two men they say are armed after responding to a scene where another man had been shot in the elbow after being tied up on Welland Street this moring around 7:50 am.

Officials issued a reverse 911 call to residents in the area alerting them to the danger.

Police say they received witness statements that said the two men were carrying a handgun and a sawed off shotgun.

Police were also searching in the area of a canal along Sandusky Street.

Hollywood Reacts To Colorado Shootings; Offers Support, Even Changed a Movie's Name

Hollywood is very sensitive to crimes committed that resemble movies the studios have produced and actors have been making public statements offering condolences and support to the recent Colorado movie theater shootings.

The movie "The Watch" was originally named "The Neighborhood Watch" but changed it after the murder of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, hoping to distance itself from negative association by movie-goers. Actors from New York to Los Angeles to Sydney Australia have offered public solidarity with the victims and families of the shooting in Aurora.
