TSA Unviels Document Scanners In Houston, I Made It Through Surprisingly Fast

[Opinion Article]

I recently was on a United Airlines flight from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, IAH, to Orlando, MCO. I had heard about the TSA coming out with a new electronic machine that would verify identification documents presented at security checkpoints, but didn't follow the news to close to know where and when, or how they worked. I only knew it compared the name on the boarding pass to the one on the ID, something the TSA agent can also do.

Tropical Storm Debbie Not Causing Popular Texas-Florida Flight Corridor Disruptions

As tropical storm Debbie churns its way through the Gulf Of Mexico, it has so far not brought any major delays or flight disruptions and deviations.

Orlando International reports there have been no delays or cancellations on flights to Texas that normally flight across the Gulf of Mexico, and Miami is reporting the same. Tampa said it had a few minor delays, but they were due to rain at the airport hampering operations rather than flight delays as a result of the storm.

Houston, Texas -

United Airlines has announced that it will lay off another 1,400 employees at its Houston hub, the carriers largest, after the city of Houston approved Southwest Airline's request to build and operate international flights from Houston Hobby airport.

United had vigorously opposed the building of a new international terminal at Houston Hobby airport saying that only one large metro area in the United States has more than one international airport, that being New York City, and that the air travel dynamics of New York are very different than that of Houston.

Frontier Airlines has announced that it is moving its Houston flight operations back to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) starting July 11, 2012 after feedback from its passengers.

Frontier said that with its partnerships, it can offer its passenger better international connections at IAH than Houston's smaller Hobby Airport where Southwest flies into.

IAH is United Airlines' largest hub with non-stop direct flight across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
