Amazon Starts Production Of 5 Original Shows For Streaming Services

Amazon started production on five original TV series that will be available on streaming services like Netflix, and Hulu+ starting in 2014. The show, Alpha House, Betas, Annebots, Creative Galaxy and Tumbleaf, were selected after Amazon showed 14 pilots to potential viewers and asked for feedback and to vote on each show.

Two of the shows are adult comedies while Annebots, Creative Galaxy and Tumbleaf are geared towards children.

It is stil unclear how much content will be available on Netflix after a dispute with Nickelodeon.

Mozilla and Foxconn Join To Make New Smartphone Mobile Device And OS

Mozilla had confirmed reports that it, along with Foxconn, are jointly building a new Smarthone or Tablet with their own operating system.

Mozilla is the maker of Firefox and is the world's largest no-tfor-profit software maker and Foxconn is the world's largest electronics manufacturer according to revenue, building popular Apple, Sony and SumSung products such as the iPhone, iPad, Galaxy Android phone and more.

Yahoo Purchases Blogging Site Tumblr For $1.1 Billion

“We promise not to screw it up”, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer blogged today from newly acquired Tumblr today. Yahoo purchased the blogging website for $1.1 Billion. Rumors began to circulate last week about the purchase.

Mayers said that Tumblrs current CEO and founder David Karp will remain in place. Yahoo plans on keeping Tumblr a separate company and brand.

YouTube Announces It Will Start Charging To Watch Content

YouTube has announced that it will begin charging a subscription fee to watch some content on the popular streaming video website, which is owned by Google.

Under the plan, viewers will pay about .99 cents to subscribe to one channel each month, YouTube will be offering 53 channels.

YouTube has said it will have a wide variety of channel to choose from, but would not give specifics. One show that is known to be part of the plan is Sesame Street.

U.S. Postal Service Ends Efforts To Stop Saturday Delivery Service

The U.S. Postal Service has said that it has stopped pushing to end its Saturday delivery service in order to close budget shortfalls because congress couldn't pass legislation.

The Postal Service is a branch of the federal government but it run like a private corporation without any taxpayer money.

In the past, the USPS operated at a profit, but as the internet boomed as well as digital signatures and new security methods, along with coupon and spam mail, the Post Office began loosing money and now operates with $15 billion in debt hanging over its head.

Google Marketshare At 65% In U.S. As New "Odd" Privacy Rules Create Legal Challenges

Google is under the microscope for its new combined global privacy policy in several countries who say the policy is "odd" and does not really say anything other than that it will do what it wants.

Six of Europe's largest countries are jointly suing Google after it rolled out a new global combines privacy policy in 2012 saying it is vague, unclear, and that users don't really know what information Google is collected, how they can use it or how long they can hold onto it.

Ronaiah Tuiasosopo Said He Created Manti Te'o Love Hoax Because He Was In Love

Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man believed to have created the online fake profile of a girl who dated Manti Te'o has spoken for the first time.

In comments, he said that he was in love with Manti and that he never gained or received any money and that the girl he created, Lennay Kekua, was part of him. He went on to say Kekua fell for Manti.

22-year-old Tuiasosopo went on to say that he never meant to hurt anyone, that the part of him that was Kekua got out of control and fell for Manti, and that he did not mean it to be a joke.

AT&T Uverse Outage Spans Florida To California

AT&T is reporting service outages across parts the southeast U.S., including parts of Florida, mainly in the Orlando metro area.

The outage though, is being reported by customers as far away as California according to social media posts.

In a statement, AT&T said a limited number of customers are experiencing problems, and that they are working to resolve the issues, however it appears to be more widespread and not just a limited number based on reports.

AT&T said the problem lays with one of its servers which went down early this morning and created a cascading outage problem.

Facebook has announced free phone calls for iPhone users in the United States, and is now available for iPhone users who use Facebook Messenger.

Facebook first released the free calling to users in Canada as a test run, and it went very successful and now is ready to launch it to a much larger group, one that is highly critical as the world's largest social media organizations struggles to find way to stay relevant as the number of 'active users' declines. An active user is defined as someone that logs onto Facebook at least every other day.
