Lakeland PD Officer Jerry Monroe Arrested On Violent Road Rage Charges

Lakeland, Fla. -

Police officer Jerry Monroe of the Lakeland, Florida police department has been arrested on battery charges after he is accused of a violent road rage incident.

According to surveillance videos, Monroe followed another motorist into a parking lot where he engaged the motorist and began yelling and hitting him. The two men fought until both fell to the ground.

Monroe attempted to continue to beat the motorist until a nearby witness stepped in and broke up the fight.

Monroe has been booked into the Polk County Jail.

Sun N' Fun Starts Today; Florida Aviation Show Expected To Attract 160,000 To The 38th Annual Air Show

The 38th annual Sun N' Fun Fly-In air show starts today in Lakeland Florida and is expected to attract as many as 160,000 visitors along with nearly 100 experimental aircraft plus the usual warbirds, and other flying craft. The event is at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Polk County and runs through April 1st.

In addition to the demonstration flights there will also be exhibits, forums, speakers, air museum tours and other daily air shows and acrobatics.

Polk Court Sentences Stobert "Toby" Holt To 30 years For Killing His Son's Boss

Stobert "Toby" Holt has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for manslaughter and extortion by a Polk County court for the killing of his son's boss, Robert Wiles. He was not convicted on making written threats of bodily harm because the judge believed it to be double jeopardy as protected under the U.S. constitution, and acquitted of kidnapping due to lack of evidence.

2 Brothers, Paul Hackney, Shawn Hackney of Orlando & Lakeland Caught Running Counterfeit Money Operation

Fort Myers, Fla. -

Two brothers, Paul Hackney, 39, of Orlando and Shawn Hackney, 33, of Lakeland were caught in Fort Myers and have been arrested for operating a counterfeit money ring.

The two were stopped for a minor vehicle violation and that's when police discovered Paul was driving on a revoked drivers license. Police then searched the car and found the fake money and items purchased from retailers. Upon investigating it further, detectives say they used the money to buy those items illegally.

Lawrence Douglas Dickey Held in Polk County Jail, No Bail For Murder of Wife, A Sheriffs Department Employee

Lakeland, Fla. -

Lawrence Douglas Dickey has been arrested and charged in the death of his wife, 44 year old Beatrice Ann Dickey, who was an employee at the Polk County Sheriffs Department office of business affairs and its director.

Lawrence Dickey has been charged with first degree murder, after finding his wife died from blunt force trauma. he is being held with no bond.

2 Shot at Greater Faith Christian Church in Lakeland, 1 Shot at Home by Same Gunman

Lakeland, Fla. -

Police are reporting that a gunman shot two people at the Greater Faith Christian Church in Lakeland Florida and one person at a home nearby.

The victims have been taken to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center; the status of the victims is not yet known.

Polk County Sheriff's Office said they do not have a suspect in custody yet and are looking.
