Passengers Force Orlando Flight To Make Emergency Landing

Several passengers on board a Southwest Airlines flight from Orlando to Providence, RI forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Charleston, SC after becoming "unruly" and "disruptive" according to Southwest and FAA officials.

At least three passengers were removed from the flight before it continued onto Providence.

The plane had 134 passengers are crew on board.

The FBI greeted the passengers upon landing in Charleston and escorted them off the plane.

JetBlue Plane Catches Fire, Lands At Orlando International Airport

Orlando, Fla. -

A JetBlue flight from Santo Domingo suffered a fire near the windshield of the Embraer 190 airplane and landed safely at Orlando International Airport Thursday.

The flight was operating from the Dominican Republic to Orlando.

There are no reports of injuries, and the flight crew was able to use a fire extinguisher to out out the flames.

Orlando International Among Top 10 With Incidents Of TSA Agents Stealing Passenger Items

Orlando International Airports is now among the top 10 airports in the nation with TSA agents caught stealing items belonging to passengers.

In a recent undercover operation conducted by ABC News, an iPad was intentionally left behind at Orlando International Airport and a camera was recording the TSA agents who handled the device.

After 15 days, the iPad still had not been turned into Lost and Found at the airport. The iPad was clearly marked on its case with the name, address and phone number of the "owner", and no contact was ever made.

Flight Delays At Orlando International Due To Severe Storms

Orlando, Fla. -

Severe thunder storms have caused flight delays at Orlando International Airport. NWS radar indicated a line of severe storms crossing over the Orlando area prompting storm warnings for Osceola, Orange, Brevard, Seminole and Lake counties.

Flights inbound to Orlando are being put into holding patters, one over Leesburg, one over Melbourne and one over Daytona lasting up to 45 mins.

Departing flights are being held at the gates with delays up 45 minutes or more. Flights to JKF, EWR, LGA, PHL have delays lasting up to 1 hour 45 mins.

Holograms Could Be Coming To Orlando International Airport To Help Travelers

A new wave of holograms are being deployed at some of the nations largest airports, in an effort to help travelers get through security and find where they need to go.

Boston, New York City and Washington's Dulles airports are among the newest airports adopting holography technology to help travelers. The holograms give out information about passing through security since passengers don't appear appear to read or listen to signs and TSA workers.

Man Claims TSA Agent At Orlando International Spilled His Grandfathers Ashes

Orlando, Fla. -

In another possible TSA blunder, John Gross of Indian has claimed that while passing through the TSA security checkpoint at the Orlando International Airport, MCO, a female TSA agent used her finger to sift through the ashes and in the process spilled about a third of his remains onto the floor.

Gross was carrying the remains of his grandfather, Mario Mark Marcaletti, in a sealed container marked "Human Remains", and tried to explain to the female TSA agent what it was before she opened the jar and subsequently spilled portions of the remains onto the floor.

Orlando International Airport Studying Plans To Add Train Station And An Eventual New Terminal

Orlando International Airport, MCO, has said that it will be meeting with various bodies including Southwest, Delta, United, American, US Airways, and "All Aboard Florida" along with its Florida East Coast Railway affiliate to discuss adding a train station at the airport that would run from Orlando to Miami. Also in the plans are the resurrection of OIA's south terminal as growth nears the maximum capacity the airport can handle smoothly said airport officials.

Tropical Storm Debbie Not Causing Popular Texas-Florida Flight Corridor Disruptions

As tropical storm Debbie churns its way through the Gulf Of Mexico, it has so far not brought any major delays or flight disruptions and deviations.

Orlando International reports there have been no delays or cancellations on flights to Texas that normally flight across the Gulf of Mexico, and Miami is reporting the same. Tampa said it had a few minor delays, but they were due to rain at the airport hampering operations rather than flight delays as a result of the storm.

Orlando Man Plead Guilty To Pointing Laser Beam At Departing Airplanes 23 Times At Orlando International

Orlando, Fla. -

49 year old Glenn Stephen Hansen has pleaded guilty to pointing a laser beam at airplanes departing Orlando International Airport, MCO, and now faces up to five years in prison. Prosecutors say Hansen aimed his laser pointer at departing aircraft 23 times between January 2012 and March 2012.

During court proceedings, it was alleged that some departing aircraft had to take evasive action as a result of Hansen's laser, however, they were unable to provide any evidence of that, or find a pilot willing to attest to that in court.

Boeing has delivered a new 737-900, No. 452, to United Airlines who then flew it to Orlando for re-fitting for Economy Plus seating featured on United Aircraft. This is the 7th of 19 new 737 airplanes United will take delivery of this year.

United maintains a robust Technical Operations center utilizing two large hangers capable of holding 4 airplanes each. One is used for heavy mods, maintenance, and inspections, and the other hanger is used for light mods.
