Meow The 39 Pound Cat Now At Animal Shelter, Will Go On Diet

Meow the cat had to be turned into a local Santa Fe, NM animal shelter after his elderly owner could no longer pick him up. Weighing in at 39 pounds, the owner said that she just could not care for him anymore.
After receiving a veterinary check up, workers at the animal shelter in Santa Fe will put him on a diet to slowly reduce his weight, hoping to shed up to 60% of Meow's weight, down to a more healthy 12-15 pounds.
Also being considered is way get Meow to be more active, though a treadmill was ruled out.
