Orlando Magic Forward Hedo Turkoglu Given 20 Game Suspension For Steroid Use

NBA Officials have suspended Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu for 20 games without pay after testing positive for steroid use. The anabolic steroid Methenolone is used to treat aplastic anemia is on a list of over 125 substances banned by the NBA.

In a press conference Wednesday Turkoglu said that he was given the substance while in his native Turkey over the summer to help him recover from a shoulder injury. Turkoglu said that this was an “error in judgment” as he apologized to his fans and the team.

Dwight Howard Wants To Sign Deal With L.A. Lakers According To Reports

According to various reports early this morning, Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard is expected to sign a deal with the L.A. Lakers, bringing to a close his outspoken desire to leave Orlando.

The deal, and the details have not been announced yet, but are believed to contain long-term contracts after the 2012-2013 NBA season. Until now, Howard has only indicated he would be willing to sign a long term extension with the Brooklyn Nets.

Orlando Magic Fire Stan Van Gundy and Push General Manager Otis Smith Out As Well

The Orlando Magic have fired head coach Stan Van Gundy and has decided to part ways with general manager Otis Smith.

Chief Executive Officer Alex Martins of the Orlando Magic was quoted as saying, "The disappointment of getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs these past two seasons played a primary role in our decision."

Martins said a short time ago that he expects to have a new coach in place by the end of June, when the NBA draft begins.

Indiana Pacers Players Kyrylo Fesenko and Danny Granger Get Into Confrontation In Orlando Bar

Police in downtown Orlando responded to a disturbance outside of Club 23 early Thursday morning around 2:30am. Video captured at the scene shows that Pacer team member Fesenko apparently bumped into someone who then unleashed an aggressive and loud verbal assault on the 7ft 1 inch player.

Witnesses say Granger then began to charge the restrained by friends. OPD officers from the bike patrol were able to defuse the situation and every walked away.

West Coast beats out East Coast in NBA All-Star

After months of anticipation and preparation the NBA All-Star game in Orlando is over with the West Coast taking home the win with a score of 152-149. The game is considered an exhibition game only pitting teams from each coast combined for bragging rights. Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant was MVP scoring 39 points and seven rebounds. "It ranks right up there at the top," Durant said. "I keep saying it, but I'm excited I got it, and I'm glad I get to celebrate this with my family and my teammates and everybody in Oklahoma City. We'll see if I get another one down the line."

Sports spot light on Central Florida this weekend

With the NBA All-Star game in Orlando and the Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach this weekend Central Florida is getting a much needed boost in money and public relations. The NBA mega-game which almost did not happen due to the strike earlier in the season is a competition between the east and west coast for bragging rights only. The game itself is more of an exhibition and excuse for mostly high profile fans from around the country to gather in one place to party.

Orlando Riot Police Keep Back Mob At Mall, Nike Shoe Released Timed For NBA AllStar Game In Town

Nike had planned to release a new shoe with the opening of the NBA AllStar game in Orlando this weekend but crowds became mob like forcing Orlando police in riot gear to push back the crowd at the Florida Mall on South Orange Blossom Trail and Sand Lake Road.

The crowd had been ordered to wait across the street until the store inside the mall opened but after some made a dash, the rest followed. Riot police formed a barrier and pushed the crowed back.

So far no injuries or arrests have been reported.

City of Orlando vs Merchants ahead of All-Star game

As Orlando gears up for the upcoming NBA All-Star merchants look forward to an influx of cash. The only exception in a feat of irony are the shops by the Amway Center. These shops are at the center of a match between the shops and the City of Orlando over compensation for the disruption of business. During the celebrity packed game there will be an eight foot tall fence separating the stadium and businesses. The city has offered four of the largest businesses $3,000 a peace and six smaller businesses $1,500 a peace to not sue over the fence.

Orlando Magic Propose Entertainment Complex in Parramore Area of Downtown Near Amway Center

The Orlando Magic NBA basketball team has proposed a new $100 million entertainment complex to be built in the troubled Parramore district of downtown Orlando, near the new Amway Center.

The team and its partners have said said they would invest the $100 million needed to build this new complex which would house the teams corporate headquarters along with other dining, hotel and entertainment options. This would be a privately funded project unlike the new Amway Center that was built for the Magic, along with the new PAC under construction right now.
