Iranians Elect Moderate Cleric Hassan Rowhani, Raising Hopes Of Nuclear Negations

The moderate cleric Hassan Rowhani has won the Iranian presidential elections and is considered a moderate compared it its last president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was a hard liner.

Diplomats are hopeful that this will be the change needed to get Iran to the negotiating table over its nuclear program, something Rowhani has advocated in the past and who enjoys the support of the supreme leader, the Ayatollah, Ali Khamenei, through a strong personal relationship.

North Korea Says It Wants To Talk Now

North Korea has changed course and announced they want to talk, which was met by South Korea agreeing according to its Unification Ministry, the agency responsible for dealing with North Korea.

Following a meeting between the special Chinese envoy to North Korea and Pyongyang, which urged the North to back off its recent aggressive stance, the country agreed to limits talks just before Chinese leader Xi Jinping is to meet with President Obama.

Iran Executes Alleged U.S. And Israeli Spies

Iran has claimed that it has executed spies that were working for the CIA and the Israeli spy agency Mossad.

State media reports that Mohammad Heidari was accused of working with the Mossad and Kourosh Ahmadi was working with the CIA. Both were executing by hanging reportedly.

There has been no official verification of this, but Iran routinely "executes" spies who say are working to undermine its nuclear technology.

No dates were given as to when either men were executed or when they were arrested and put on trial.

Defense Officials Believes North Korea Has Nuclear Weapon Capable Of Being Put Onto Missile

The Defense Intelligence Agency now believe that North Korea has a nuclear weapon small enough to be put onto an ballistic missile. Additionally, North Korea has raised one of the missiles it moved recently to the upright position.

News of this revelation was given by Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado, a member of the House Intelligence committee in remarks about the unclassified portion of the report which has not been released yet.

U.S. Treasury Department Targets Businesses, People, Banks Evading Iranian Sanctions

The U.S. Treasury Department announced Thursday that it has targeted a list of people, banks and businesses that it believes are evading Iranian sanctions.

Businessman Babak Zanjani and the First Islamic Investment Bank were among those targeted what what it says were systematic practices designed to evade international sanctions against Iran.

As part of its enforcement, it has prohibited any of those listed from doing any business with U.S. citizens or businesses, and frozen all assets they had within U.S. jurisdiction.

North Korea Readies Missiles, Blocks Citizens Working At Kaesong

North Korea has readied two missiles that it had moved to its eastern coastline recently and has blocked all 51,000 North Korean workers from entering the Kaesong Industrial complex, a hi-tech facility run jointly with South Korea. Pyongyang had previously blocked South Koreans from entering the complex.

"It will temporarily suspend the operations in the zone and examine the issue of whether it will allow its (continued) existence or close it, " its official KCNA news agency quoted Kim Yang Gon, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

North Korea Preparing For Missile Launch

Officials in South Korea say they believe that North Korea is preparing for a missile launch to test a rocket, activity that is prohibited by the U.N. Security Council.

North Korea has been moving two missile to its eastern coastline according to U.S. defense officials citing satellite images and surveillance images from unmanned aerial drones.

North Korea Moves Closer To War After Blockading Industrial Zone For South Korean Workers

North Korea has blocked South Koreans from entering the Kaesong Industrial Zone, a move seen as real evidence the reclusive nation wants to go to war.

The Kaesong Industrial Zone is an joint venture with South Korea helping to give North Korea much needed revenue and until now, there were doubts the north would actually go to war because they have not closed the one thing they need most.

U.S. Navy Announces It Is Moving Ships And Advance Radar Systems Close To North Korea

The U.S. Navy has announced that is it sending more ships and a special sea-based radar (SBX-1) to the waters off North Korea to safeguard any possible missile launch, calling it a precaution according to reports and the Department of Defense.

This move is in addition to other military movements by the U.S. including pre-positioning attack aircraft, and ships, plus raising the readiness of ground forces both already on the Korean peninsula as well as rapid deployment troops based in the U.S.
