200 Pound Black Bear Spotted Near Downtown Orlando

Orlando, Fla. -

The Orlando police are tracking a bear that weighs in at an estimated 200 pounds in the Parramore area and have been waring residents to stay inside.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation officers, FWC - state game wardens - are assisting the OPD.

Police say so far the beaar has not threatened anyone and probably is just as scared as residents, but again cautioned anyone from taking actions on their own to trap or kill the bear. FWC hope to catch the bear and transport it to a safe area for release.

Super Moon Over Orlando On Its Perigee; Larger Than Life [Pic Gallery]

The moon rose over Orlando on May 5th, reaching its perigee, or closest approach to earth, this evening and spectators were out in force at Lake Eola.

The during the moon's perigee, it was also a full moon, an astronomical illusion made the moon appear larger than it really is. It began to rise at 7:55pm over the east-southeast horizon as a bright orange disk before rising fulling as a granite shining crater pot-marked celestial satellite of earth.

We counted about 25 other photographers around Lake Eola's northwest coast in downtown Orlando.

Orlando's Oldest Mall Up For Sale As Tenants Move Out; Fashion Square Mall Built In 1973

Orlando, Fla. -

Orlando's oldest indoor shopping mall is up for sale. The Fashion Square Mall was built in 1973 and was a popular mall when the one of the U.S. Navy's basic training bases was located off Bennett Drive nearby.

But since the opening of area malls, and this past recession, the malls fortunes have dwindled. The current owners bought the mall in 2004 for $123 million and are now trying to shed debt and have put the mall up for sale. Estimates have put a buying price around $80 million, a significant loss compared to what was paid for it.

Indiana Pacers Players Kyrylo Fesenko and Danny Granger Get Into Confrontation In Orlando Bar

Police in downtown Orlando responded to a disturbance outside of Club 23 early Thursday morning around 2:30am. Video captured at the scene shows that Pacer team member Fesenko apparently bumped into someone who then unleashed an aggressive and loud verbal assault on the 7ft 1 inch player.

Witnesses say Granger then began to charge the restrained by friends. OPD officers from the bike patrol were able to defuse the situation and every walked away.

Lifetime Announces Movie Based On Book By Jeff Ashton About His Prosecution of Casey Anthony

Lifetime television station has announced a deal to make a movie based on the book former prosecutor Jeff Ashton wrote about the Casey Anthony trial. Ashton was one of the main prosecutors in the murder trail in Orlando Florida that ended with Anthony being acquitted in the death of her daughter Caylee Anthony in 2011.

The book will be called "Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony." Actor Rob Lowe will play the part of Jeff Ashton.

2 Professors At FAMU Fired Over Hazing Investigation

According to reports, Florida A&M University has fired two professors in the schools Music Department.

This comes as the school is still dealing with the death of Robert Champion, a drum major, died in November of 2011 from injuries resulting from blunt-force trauma in a band bus while in Orlando according to the medical examiners report.

TFNJ contacted FAMU who said they have no comment at this time.

Orlando PD Officer Dante Candelaria Found Not Guilty In Beating Of Teenager Citing Mistaken Identity

Orlando, Fla. -

Dante Candelaria of the Orlando Police Department has been found not guilty in the beating of 18 year old Bryan Payne and false imprisonment.

Despite the whole event being caught on video surveillance, Candelaria claimed he mistook Payne for another suspect he had pursed earlier in the day which is why he approached Payne.

Jury Finds James Martin, Ex-Husaband Of Female Boxer Christy Martin, Guilty of Attempted Murder

Orlando, Fla. -

An Orange County jury has found James Martin guilty of Attempted second degree murder, Attempted manslaughter and aggravated assault on his now ex-wife Christy Martin. Christy Martin is a female boxer.

According to prosecutors, James became angry were Christy told him she was leaving him for a woman, then shot and stabbed her and left her for dead. She was able to make it outside where she yelled for help.

Sentencing will be June 26, 2012 and James Martin faces life in prison.

Virgin Atlantic Flight En-Route To Orlando Makes Emergency Landing

A Virgin Atlantic, flight number VIR27, that was en-route to Orlando was forced to return to London Gatwick airport to make an emergency landing following reports of a burning smell.

The flight took off from London Gatwick airport and about an hour into the flight crew members began to smell something burning and the captain decided to return to the airport. Fire crews were on scene when the plane landed and said there was a report of a small fire but this has not been confirmed by the airline.
