Gulf Air flight GF270 Slides Off Runway in Kochi India with 143 On Board

Gulf Air flight 270 has slid off the runway while landing at Kochi airport in India on Monday morning local time in windy and heavy rains.

The flight originated in Bahrain and was carrying 137 passengers and six crew members. One passenger was admitted to a local hospital while others were released after being given first aid at the scene.

Kochi is located at the very southernmost portion of India along the western coast.

Hurricane Irene is massive in size, stretching over 1000 miles north to south and 400 east to west. 2 million people are now without power, DC is starting to get tropical storm force winds, tornadoes are being reported by police in Maryland, and the slow moving storm is a soaker, dumping epic amounts of rain in an area that floods easy. Six people have been killed so far from Irene, and the storm surge will hit at high tide for the New York area.
