School Bus

Seminole Couty, Fla. -

A school bus carrying special needs students crashed this moring after running a red light, side swiping a minivan driven by Chrystele Rouzic and then crashing into a utility pole at Dodd Rd. and Red Bug Lake Road. The bus was being driven by 67-year-old Jack Timmel which had students on board during the incident.

The incident knocked out power for nearby residents in two neighborhoods and the school where Rouzic was leaving from.

No students were injured according to the FHP who issied a citation to the school bus driver for running a red light.

Miami, Fla. -

A 13 year-old girl, Lourdes Guzman, has been shot on a school bus in Homestead, just south of Miami. She was airlifted to Miami Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The suspected shooter, another student on the bus has been taken into custody as the rest of the students have been taken to the police station for interviews.

Also on board were seven other students that attend a charter school, including the victims 7-year-old sister.

The school has brought in grief counselors for students once they return to school.

Orlando, Fla. -

A school bus was involved in an accident near North Powers Drive and Clarcona Ocoee Road that sent at least two kids to ORMC for trauma early this morning and reports show others sustained minor injuries.

It is being reported that the school bus was stopped to pick up kids when a car ran a stop sign and plowed into the children boarding the bus, though this has not been confirmed yet.

Police are still investigating the incident and have closed off the area near the school bus stop.

An Orange County School bus has hit a 23 year old bicyclist at Colonial Drive and Grayson in the east Orlando area of Union Park.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition. FHP says they are investigating, and a witness says the bus turned into the bicyclist. There were no other injures reported.
