TSA Announced New Rules For Carry-on Items; What,... Some Don't Make Sense?

John Pistole, head of the TSA, has announced that the TSA will be making a change to the rules for what a passenger can carry onto an airplane.

Although you are still banned from bringing a small box cutter onto the plane, you can now have a pocket knife with a blade no more than 2.36 inches long and a half an inch wide. And that's a good thing, because small box cutters with blades of 1 inch are far more deadly and dangerous than passengers wielding knives around with a huge blade of 2.36 inches long.

Long Lines At TSA Checkpoints As Sequestration Takes Effect

Long lines have been reported at several TSA security checkpoints around the country as the effects of sequestration kick in.

We are already seeing the effects," Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano said, citing TSA lines that are “150 to 200 percent as long as we would normally expect.”

The TSA has denied overtime, effective immediately, and instituted a hiring freeze. Both have seen immediate affects as lines in some airports are nor 150%-200% longer than normal, with wait times surpassing 1 hour in some cases.

Flight Attendant Arrested At O'Hare After Being Caught With Loaded Gun At TSA Security Checkpoint

Chicago, IL -

An American Airlines flight attendant, 65-year-old Sheila A. Schultz, was arrested yesterday at Chicago's O'Hare airport after TSA found a loaded handgun in her bag while going through security.

The flight attendant said there has been a misunderstanding between herself and her husband because the gun belonged to her husband.

Schultz has been charged with one count of boarding an aircraft with a weapon and one count of possessing a firearm without an owner's identification card.

Baby Discovered Hidden Inside Carry On Luggage; Parents Arrested At Airport

A couple have been charged child abuse and human smuggling after their 5-month-old boy was discovered packed into their carry on bags at the security screening checkpoint.

The Egyptian couple had arrived in Sharjah in the UAE but were not allowed to leave the airport because they lacked a visa for the infant boy. Two days later the father became impatient waiting for the Egyptian passport office to open and convinced his wife to hide the boy inside of their carry on bags and leave the UAE.

TSA Launches PreCheck Program At Orlando International Airport For Some Travelers On Delta

Orlando, Fla. -

The Transportation Security Administration has launched its pre-screening program at Orlando International Airport, MCO, for select Delta passengers, those enrolled in its frequent flyer program known as SkyMiles.

It is part of an overall TSA initiative to speed up security lines and respond to traveler and congressional complaints about TSA screening practices labeled in-effective, slow, overly intrusive, retarded and insensitive by many including many industry security professionals.
