Sales Of Samsung Galaxy S4 Plummet 30% Sparking Fear With Investors

After Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 in April, it quickly took off as the smartphone makers fastest selling phone, but since then sales have been dropping. Suppliers who provide or maker parts of the S4 have reported a decrease in orders and production between 20% and 30%.

Making investors more worries is that Samsung plans to release a stripped down version of the S4 at a cheaper price, and investors fear it will eliminate profit margins. Samsung lost $12 billion on market value on Friday with its shares falling 6%.

Florida Likely To Pass Texting & Driving Ban

A new texting and driving ban is likely to get approved in Tallahassee at the end of the week, making it illegal to text and drive at the same time. Under the new law, it will be considered a secondary offense.

The new ticket for violating the law will be $30 and will not carry any points. In order to get the ticket, cops will have to first stop you for some other motor vehicle violation, and then will also have to prove you were actually texting, and not doing something else such as using your phone's GPS or map.

63% Of Men Judge Other Men By The Smartphone They Have

According to a new study conducted by the Pew Research Center and Community Living, 63% of men judge other men's status and first impression by the smartphone they have and look to see what each other have as one of the first things they see.

Gone are the watch, car or clothes as leading indicators of the status of men as judged by other men, at least in the U.S., and other developed countries.

Apparently an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy are the phones to have if you want to put out a good image according to the study which surveyed 12,500 adults.

Samsung Set To Launch Galaxy S4 On March 14 In New York City

Samsung has announced that it will launch its newest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S IVa, at a press conference in New York City on March 14.

The new phone is reported to have a quad-core processor, higher screen resolution, improved camera and new software that Samsung hopes will differentiate it from other Android smartphones and the iPhone.

Samsung has becomes the world's largest smartphone maker, though Apple's iPhone still keeps the lead in the category of a single phone type; ie; iPhone v. Galaxy.

Apple Tops Samsung As Nations Top Smartphone Maker In Fourth Quater Of 2012

Apple has claimed the top spot for the nation's largest smartphone maker, selling 17.7 million units in the fourth quarter of 2012, 34% of the market share, compared to Samsung, which sold 16.8 million, or 32% of the market share.

Apple's success is credited to its highly popular ecosystem for iPhones and iPads and iTunes, whereas Samsung's Android based devices lack a one stop for everything store for apps, music, movies, tv shows and other content.

LG came in third with 4.7 million units sold.

Samsung Posts Huge Profits, Beating Apple On Smartphone Sales

Samsung's fourth quarter profits are up 76%, surpassing expectations and continued to sell more smartphones overall than Apple. Popularity of its Galaxy smartphones and growing share of low end smartphones and prepaid phones helped push the electronics maker into the number slot again.

When only the Galaxy SIII smartphone is compared to Apple's popular iPhone, Apple still beats Samsung, but that lead is also starting to become smaller.

Samsung raked in a net profit for the fourth quarter of $6.6 billion.

There have been several reports floating around that Apple is going to release a "basic" iPhone in 2013, aimed at the pre-paid market and lower priced consumers who's market share is growing rapidly.

Samsung has sold lower end Android phones for a couple years now as more post-paid contract customers switch to pre-paid.

AT&T Switching To Shared Data Plans; Getting More Complex And More Expensive

AT&T has announce that it will be switching data plans to shared group plans, similar to what Verizon has recently done. But the move means those who predominately use data will see their wireless bill double or triple in many cases, while those who primarily talk and text only will see a small reduction in their monthly wireless phone bill.

Currently, AT&T offers a tiered data plan for each line of service, for both individual lines as well as family plans. That is going away in August, as the nations second largest wireless carrier rolls out its new group data sharing plans.

iPhone To Get LTE For 2012 Release; Some iPhone4's incorrectly showing 4G signal After latest Update

According to Digitimes, a Taiwanese based media outlet, it says the new iphone will have LTE for the 2012 rollout which it expects sometime in the later half of 2012. While rumors galore always surround Apple products, Digitimes have been fairly accurate in its predictions so far.

Digitimes says that according to its checks of suppliers and other infrastructure, the iPhone is "very likely" to have LTE.

Also, during a recent update to the iPhone4, some users began to see the signal indicator on their phones display "4G" leading them to believe they now have 4G speeds.
