OUC To Build Small Solar Plant In East Orange County

Orlando Utilities Commission has decided to build a solar power plant, consisting of a 5.9-Megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) array, in east Orange County near its coal-fired power plant. The new plant will also be used to test how to large scale solar projects impact the electrical grid.

Warren Buffett Buys First Solar Inc., Large Solar Farm in San Luis Obispo County California

San Luis Obispo, CA -

Mid-American, a company owned by Warren Buffett, has agreed to buy First Solar Inc. based in Tempe, AZ and is building a large solar farm in San Luis Obispo County California for $2 billion. The photovoltaic farm covers 3,500 acres of what has been called "unproductive" farm land.

The solar farm will be capable of generating 550 megawatts of electricity, which is capable of powering up to 160,000 homes.
