North Korea Launches Three Short Range Missiles On Saturday Into Sea

North Korea launched three short-ranged guided missiles into the sea off the Korean Peninsula on Saturday. The announcement was made by South Korea’s Defense Ministry.

There has been on official comment from the North Korean government about the test. This latest test is in a series of provocation by the young communist leader Kim Jung Un.

According to the Arms Control Association, short-range guided missiles are generally classified as those traveling less than about 620 miles

U.S. Pre-Positions Military Assests Closer To North Korea In Nuclear Showdown

As tensions with North Korea rise, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said the U.S. "will defend South Korea, absolutely". Adding to those words, the U.S. has been moving military assets closer to North Korea and recently flew a B-2 Stealth Bomber over South Korea and dropped dummy-bombs onto a practice range.

Sikorsky S-58ET Helicopter Crash In Andes Mountains Of Peru Kills 14

Police in Peru have confirmed all 14 people aboard a Sikorsky S-58ET helicopter have died after it crashed into Mama Rosa Mountain which is in the southern Andes Mountain range. Wreckage of the crash was found at 16,000 feet along a steep and rocky face of the mountain.

Brig. Roberto Larrea of the Peruvian Police said a Dutchman, a Czech, a Swede, eight Koreans and three Peruvians, including the pilot and co-pilot, were on the helicopter.

Rescue efforts were called off until Sunday due to temperatures falling to 5 degrees Fahrenheit and darkness.

North Korea Rocket Launch Called A Failure, Explodes Over Yellow Sea

The North Korean rocket launch of a satellite into space has failed after it veered off course and exploded seconds after liftoff over the Yellow Sea.

Bucking international pressure to not launch a rocket, the reclusive and somewhat backwards country went ahead, hoping to boost national pride across the communist country.

South Korea and the United States quickly called the launch a failure, and in an unusual move, the country also admitted to the "failure of the satellite to enter orbit" on state television, but did not give a reason.

Alarm bells are sounding in capitals around the world after new satellite images show North Korea near completion of another nuclear test tunnel. The heightened sense of alarm is increased because the reclusive country will also be launching a long-range rocket with a satellite payload soon. Western nations fear this rocket launch is an exercise in developing the nations long range nuclear capabilities.

Satellite photos of the Punggye-ri site in the northeast past of the country show dirt being excavated and other signs that the underground location is nearly ready.

North Korea To Launch Rocket With Satellite Into Space To Celebrate Leaders Birthday

North Korea has announced that it will be launching a satellite into space on top of a long range rocket to celebrate its leaders birthday. Kim Jong Eun, the young 27 year old newly installed leader also said that if Japan or the U.S. attempt to shoot down the rocket, that will be a clear provocation of war and that N. Korea is "ready to go."

The country usually has over the top celebrations for its leader, but past events never involved intercontinental rockets and space.
