Twinkies And Ding Dong Maker Hostess Goes Bankrupt And Shutting Down

While Twinkies may be able to survive a nuclear war, as the urban myth says, it can not survive a union strike. Hostess, the maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and other sweet treats, including Wonder Bread, has announced it is bankrupt and shutting down after making treats since 1930's.

A union strike seriously hurt Hostess who told union workers if they do not return to work by Thursday night, everyone would loose their jobs and the company would shut down.

More Violent Strikes Across Europe Protesting Budget Cuts And Tax Increases

Much of Europe remained mired in a strike today that has seen strikes and violent protests spread from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece to countries like France, Belgium and Germany.

Demonstrators have been unhappy with deep government cuts to government pensions, salary cuts to government jobs, and tax increases on everyone, some so steep, as much as 55%, it forced bankruptcies and suicides for those with no savings and already living on the end.

A Row of Seats Came Loose on American Airlines Flight From Boston To Miami

New York City -

An American Airlines Boeing 757 was forced to make an emergency landing at JFK airport in New York after a row of seats on the plane came loose.

The flight, which occured on Saturday, had 175 passenger on board and the plane landed safely with no injuries according to American Airlines. The row the came unbolted was row 12.

American is currently in bankruptcy and U.S. Airway is tryig to take over the bankrupt airline as the two have entered talks.

Lufthansa Crippled As Strike Continues; Few Flights In Europe, Cancellations Continue Into Weekend

The strike by the flight attendants union, Unabhaengige Flugbegleiter Organisation, (UFO), has caused Lufthansa to cancel more flights and nearly all inner-European flights are going nowhere.

Lufthansa Flight Attendants Walk Out On Strike

Lufthansa flight attendants have walked out on strike at 5:00am local Berlin time (10:00pm EST), making good on their threat over a 13 month wage dispute with the airline. The airline has not officially announced how many flights have been affected by the strike but some reports say as much as 20% of flight will be delayed or cancelled.

Air India May Terminate Another 300 Pilots Over What The Government Calls An Illegal Strike

Air India may be getting ready to let another 300 pilots go over what the India government calls an illegal strike by the IPG union, which represents the pilots. Just recently the government fired 101 pilots for the same reason.

"The pilots are on an illegal strike since May. How long do they (pilots) expect us to wait for them to resume duty? If the situation remains the same, then the rest (300) of pilots may also be terminated. But this decision will be taken by the Air India management," Ajit Singh told IANS.
