Sudan Reaches Oil Agreement But Wants Security Agreement In Place First
Sadan and South Sudan have reached an agreement over oil resources which many hope will bring an end to disputes and prosperity to the two nations that were once one, having three civil wars.
Landlocked South Sudan has discovered oil but no way to deliver it to waiting tankers at sea, while Sudan (or North Sudan) has little to no oil, but access to the sea and tankers.
Despite the agreement, Sudan said it will not implement the new agreement until security talks have been settles first.
The agreement was negotiated by Thabo Mbeki, a mediator with the African Union.
