Sudan Reaches Oil Agreement But Wants Security Agreement In Place First

Sadan and South Sudan have reached an agreement over oil resources which many hope will bring an end to disputes and prosperity to the two nations that were once one, having three civil wars.

Landlocked South Sudan has discovered oil but no way to deliver it to waiting tankers at sea, while Sudan (or North Sudan) has little to no oil, but access to the sea and tankers.

Despite the agreement, Sudan said it will not implement the new agreement until security talks have been settles first.

The agreement was negotiated by Thabo Mbeki, a mediator with the African Union.

Actor George Clooney Arrested For Protesting On Sudan Embassy Property

Actor George Clooney has been arrested at a protest in which they stood on the property of the Sudanese Embassy on Massachusetts Ave in Washington, D.C.

Clooney along with Rep. Jim Moran, John Prendergast and Martin Luther King III along with other activists had been protesting the Sudan blocking of humanitarian aide.

The group planned the civil disobedience to bring attention to the actions of Sudan and the humanitarian disaster unfolding there.
