Apple Takes #6 Spot On Fortune 500 List; and is Highest Ranked Tech Company

Apple has managed to get into the top 10 list of the Fortune 500 list of largest corporations. In fact, Apple is now ranked number 6 on the list of 500, and is the highest ranked tech company.

Despite shares of Apple going through a bit of turbulence as the company's stock is down nearly 35% from a high of $700 to $461, Apple's revenue continues to climb, ranking in more than a billion dollars a week in operating profits.

Oprah Tweets That She Loves The New Microsoft Surface Tablet,... From Her iPad

In am embarrassing gaff, Oprah apparently tweeted that she loved Microsoft's new tablet, the Surface, saying it felt like a Mercedes-Benz, and “Gotta say love that SURFACE!", and she did it from her iPad, forgetting Twitter tracks the user's platform device.

Awkward?

In her tweet, she said the "pictures seem sharper", and that the "keyboard was easier", but easier than what is not sure. Notably absent was any comment that she owns a Surface.

In 2010 she was quoted as saying this about her new iPad, “from our very first moment together, I knew it had stolen my heart".

Apple Announces It Sold 3 Million New iPads During Opening Weekend

Apple has announced that it has sold over 3 million of its newest iPad and iPads Mini's, which is more than was sold during opening weekend of the previous iPad, or iPad 3 as some have called it.

Apple did not break down the numbers between the iPad fourth edition and the iPad mini.

News of this surpassed analyst expectation of between 1 and 1.5 million.

Apple launched the iPad mini to get back a segment of the market in the 8 inch tablet size dominated by Amazon and Google and to keep ahead of Microsoft's new 'Surface' tablet.

Apple Stock Drops After Announcement Of Top Executive Shakeup

Apple's stock has dropped below $600 a share following an announcement by Apple of changes at the top of the company.

Apple announced that Scott Forstall and John Browett are both leaving the company. Forstall was the head of Apple's iOS and once thought to be a successor to Steve Jobs. Browett was head of the retail division for just a few months.

The news came out on Monday as Hurricane Sandy was slamming into New Jersey and New York and the stock market was closed.

Microsoft has been betting big on its new operating system, Windows 8, and the release of its new tablet, the Surface.

Last year Apple sold more iPads than any single PC maker sold in computers, desktops and laptops combined. Microsoft used to dominate the market, with nearly 90% of all devices that connected to the internet running some version of Windows, but that is down sharply with the proliferation of smartphones and tablets.

Apple is expected to announce its newest device, the iPad Mini October 23 according to our sources and other reports.

The new iPad Mini will be 8 inches with a 7.85 screen. We first reported on the smaller iPad on Feb 14.

Samsung Wants To Add iPhone 5 To Its lawsuit Against Apple

Following a victory for Apple recently against Samsung over patent disputes, Samsung is now seeking to add Apple's iPhone 5 to its lawsuit against Apple, claiming patent infringement, the same as Apple just won against Samsung.

The move comes as Apple has pre sold two million iPhone 5's which are slated for public release Friday (tomorrow).

"Samsung anticipates that it will file, in the near future, a motion to amend its infringement contentions to add the iPhone 5 as an accused product," the company said in a U.S. court filing.

Apple Wins German Court Battle To Ban Motorola Phones And Tablets

The regional court of Munich ruled that Motorola infringes on a touchscreen-related patent in its recent ruling in which is sided with Apple and granted a preliminary sales ban on all Motorola phones and Tablets in Germany.

Apple has sued Motorola Mobility (based in Houston, Texas and owned by Google) over patent infringements on technology related to "list scrolling and document translation, scaling, and rotation on a touchscreen display".

Apple Vs Samsung; Jury Returns Verdict In Federal Patent Lawsuit Case In California

The jury hearing the case between Apple and Samsung has returned its verdict today in the Federal Court in San Jose, California, just down the road from Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, CA.

Regarding the dispute over screen bounce-back patent, the jury rules Samsung has infringed on all phones and tablets.

On patent 915, pinch and zoom, the jury found Samsung infringed with all but three devices.
