Bomb Explodes in Mogadishu, Somalia From Suicide Bomber

A bomb has exploded in Mogadishu, Somalia near the Turkish Embassy, believed to be the work of Islamists who have been fighting a civil war with the western backed government.

Turkey is the only country outside of the regional area of Somalia to have opened an embassy, and the Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan visited the Embassy and Somalia in August, the only head of state or high ranking government official not from Africa to visit Somalia in 20 years.

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has called on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to finally step down in a speech he delivered to the Turkish Parliament today. Turkey is an influential country in the region and is also an original founding member of NATO, plus has one of the largest militaries within NATO and is considered technologically advanced.
