7 Americans Taken Hostage From BP Natural Gas Plant In Algeria After Attack Killed 2 Others

Seven American have been taken hostage Wednesday morning from a natural gas plant in Algeria that was run by BP during an attack which also killed at least two others. Six are believed to have been injured, including two Algerian policemen.

The incident comes after France attacked an al-Qaida-linked Malian rebels groups, and Algeria supported the action, and the U.S. provided logistical support to the operation.

John Brennan Nominated To Be New Director Of CIA

Counterterrorism advisor John Brennan has been selected by President Obama to be nominated as the new director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Brennan would replace retired General David Patraeus who left an affair with an autobiographer was reveled. The spy agency has been run by acting director Michael Morell since Patraeus resignation on November 9th.

Federal Court Sentences Shaker Masri To 10 years For Suicide Bomb Plot

A federal court in Chicago has sentenced an attempted suicide bomber, 29-year-old Shaker Masri, to 10 years in federal prison following his trial in which he was convicted of attempting to travel to Somalia and join Al-Qaeda and a Somalia affiliate, al-Shabab, then return to the U.S. and be a suicide bomber, killing Americans.

During his trial, Masri pleaded guilty to trying to provide material support and resources to a terrorist organization, saying he had hoped to blow up a bus with American soldiers on it.

Two Brothers Face Terrorism Charges In Fort Lauderdale Court Today

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -

20-year-old Raees Alam Qazi and 30-year-old Sheheryar Alam Qazi, will be in federal court today (Friday) to be arraigned on terrorism charges in Fort Lauderdale. The two have been charged in an indictment with one count of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction and one count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists. They are also expected to challenger their detention.

Both were born in Pakistan but became naturalized U.S. Citizens.

Federal Judge Rules United Airlines Not Responsible For Security Lapses That Lead To 9/11 Hijackings

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ruled that United Airlines bears no responsibility for the 9/11 security lapses that lead to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center on Sept 11, 2001.

Judge Hellerstien dismissed a lawsuit against United and its parent United Continental Holdings that was brought by Larry Silverstein, the leaseholder of the World Trade Center property.

In the lawsuit, Silverstein claimed United was negligent in security screening. Most legal experts had long predicted the lawsuit would go nowhere but that Silverstein had a duty to bring the lawsuit.

Bomb Exploded On Bus In Tel Aviv Injuring At Least 28

Jerusalem, Israel -

A bomb has exploded on a public bus in Tel Aviv injuring at least 28 people and several killed. Hamas did not claim credit for it, but praised the attack saying "hell is being unleashed" on Israel.

IDF officials believe the attack was the work of al Qassam Brigades, the militant wing of Hamas.

World leaders immediately condemned the attack.

The explosion has complicated cease fire efforts, and Israel is likely step up its strikes against Hamas and al Qassam Brigades. So Far Israel says it has killed 40 al Qassam Brigade leaders.

Gaza Militants Launch Rocket Attacks On Tel Aviv

Jerusalem, Israel -

Gaza militants have launched one of their newest rockets, the Fajr-5, at Tel Aviv, the economic center of Israel. This comes after Israel launched targets arial attacks on hamas militant leaders in an effort to the stop 274 rockets that have been launched from Gaza into Israel recently.

Hamas leader in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh condemned the Israeli attack into Gaza as a "ferocious assault" against Gaza and said they will remain "steadfast and unshaken" in a televised statement.

Bomb Sniffing Mice Could Replace Fido The Dog?

Researchers have claimed they have successfully trained mice to sniff and detect bombs as well as other dangerous items, and they also inadvertently discovered they can smell money.

According to BioExplorers of Israel, they began working on the idea around 2000 according to founder and chief technology officer Eran Lumbroso.

FBI To Get Chance To Question Suspect In Beghazi Libya U.S. Consulate Attack

The FBI will be allowed to question Ali Ani al Harzi, one of the suspects in the consulte killing of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

The FBI became aware of Ali Ani al Harzi because he was posting updates about the attack while it was happening and then fled Libya to Turkey afterwards.

Turkish officials detained al Harzi as he attempted to enter their country at the request of U.S. law enforcement officials and was then transfered to Tunisia, where he is being held.

Leader of Terrorist Organization Offers Help To Americans Affected By Hurricane Sandy; US Declines

Hafiz Saeed, the leader of a terrorist group, and head of the Defense Of Pakistan Council, has offered help to Americans who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy saying, "We are ready to send food items, medicines and doctors to the U.S. for the people affected by the storm,... America [may] fix bounties on our heads but as followers of the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), we feel it is our Islamic duty to help Americans trapped in a catastrophe."
