Highway Engineers Are Now Tracking You Via Your Bluetooth Signals

Both Los Angeles and now Palm beach County, Florida have begun using new wireless technology to help monitor and manage traffic congestion by tracking your car or smartphone's Bluetooth signal.

In Los Angeles, the city has now connected their entire traffic light system to a network of camera's and monitors and to time every light signal.

In Palm Beach County, they are hoping to be able to monitor and alter the timing of stop lights in an effort to alleviate traffic congestion either during rush hour or because of an accident.

Carmageddon II Coming To Los Angeles This Weekend

Officials have begun spreading the word that Carmageddon II is coming this weekend as Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will again shut down the the nations busiest freeway, the 405, at the Sepulveda Pass for much needed construction.

Last year officials fear massive gridlock during the period the freeway was closed and were rewarded by none at all as residents either took alternative routes or stayed away from the area altogether.

I-4 Closed At John Young Parkway Due To Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Orlando, Fla. -

Police have closed the I-4 exit ramp at John Young Parkway due to a Fatal motorcycle accident. Reports say a female motorcyclist was riding with a group when she lost control and hit a concrete wall causing her to flip over the wall and land on the roadway below, about 20 feet down.

Westbound traffic has come to a standstill as the interstate remains closed, while eastbound traffic has slowed to a crawl as onlookers pass by the scene.

1 Dead In Car Crash On I-95 In Brevard County Forcing Southbound Closure

Palm Bay, Fla. -

According to the FHP at least one person has been killed in a car crash this morning on I-95 at mile marker 168 near Grant Road. All southbound lanes are closed on I-95 while FHP investigate the crash.

There have been a recent string of deadly crashes in and near this area recently, with at least 4 other people dying also.

Minivan Crashes Into Lil' Shop of Hair Cuts Salon In Orange City

Sanford, Fla. -

A minivan has crashed into the Lil' Shop of Hair Cuts hair salon on South Volusia Avenue in Orange City Tuesday morning. The minivan was able to get completely inside the salon damaging the place extensively.

The crash happened before the salon was open and there have been no reported injuries.

Police say it appears the female driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake.

Florida Cities Ranked Most Dangerous For Pedestrians,... Again

The year 2011 was not easy for pedestrians who live in Florida, with Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville and Miami rounding out the top four most deadly cities in America for pedestrians.

In the top 10 order were; Orlando/Kissimmee, Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Jacksonville, Miami/Fort Lauderdale/Pompano, Riverside/San Bernardino/Ontario, California, Las Vegas/Paradise, Nevada, Memphis, Tennessee, Phoenix/Mesa/Scottsdale, Arizona, Houston/Sugar Land/Baytown, Texas and Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington, Texas.

Carmageddon; Did too Many People Stay Away?

Early this morning there were no signs of large traffic back ups. In fact, almost no traffic at all even on approach on freeways to the 405, or the canyon roads which were feared to be congested.  But, it's only 7am.

For the last couple weeks officials have been warning the public of the impending closing of the 405 for a 10 mile stretch where 500,000 cars pass on a single weekend day.  The closing was needed so CalTrans could knock down a bridge that passes overhead, and over improvements aimed at reducing backups on one of LA's busiest freeways.
