A Woman Freaks Out On United Flight And Strips At Houston Airport

Houston, TX. -

A woman on a United flight, 1601 from Washington Dulles to Houston, began experiencing an unknown mental problem and threatened to strip on the airplane as it was making its decent into George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston Texas yesterday.

Once the plane landed, the woman disembarked from the airplane but continued "freaking out" as one passenger explained and proceeded to strip in the gift shop located near gate C31.

United Airlines Is Moving Its 787 Fleet In Preparation For Resuming Flights

Houston, TX -

United Airlines has begun moving the 6 Boeing 787 Dreamliners from temporary parking storage to have the batteries repaired in preparation for resuming flights laster this month. The FAA approved Boeing's repair plan for the lithium-ion batteries on the airplanes after several high profile incidents in which the batteries caught fire causing the grounding of all 787's worldwide.

United has affirmed its commitment to the new 787's, which are made mostly from light weight composite materials, and said they believe the aircraft are safe and expressed confidence in Boeing.

United Announces Deal To Provide Its Regional Carriers With 76 Seat EMB-175's

Chicago, IL -

United has announced that it will acquire 30 Embraer 175s jets with 76 seats, 12 in first class and 16 in economy plus and 48 in coach to replace the aging ERJ-145's operated by some of its regional carriers.

Under the plan, United will own the aircraft and lease them to one or more of its regional carriers, (believed to be ExpresJet), on certain regional high frequency routes.

Boeing Profits Up 20% As Ethiopian Airlines To Resume 787 Dreamliner Flights

Boeing has reported net profits rose 20% despite the 787 Dreamliner battery mess and with total revenue actually dropping 2.5% Also, Ethiopian Airlines is believed to be resuming its 787 Dreamliner flights this coming Saturday and United Airlines believes it will be flying revenue passenger on its 6 Dreamliners by the end of May.

Boeing's net income for the first three months of 2013 reached $1.1 billion and revenue was at $18.9 billion.

Airlines Are Parking Planes In Orlando To Wait Out New England Storm

Orlando, Fla. -

As airlines cancelled flights and kept aircraft out of the New England area because of a strong winter storm and blizzard conditions, United and Delta have been moving aircraft into Orlando to wait out the storm. Today's high in Orlando was 80 and mostly sunny.

While many planes won't actually sit in Orlando the entire time of the winter storm, more planes will move through Orlando for extended stops and move traffic through Orlando in some cases.

NTSB Says Boeing 787 Dreamliner Investigation Will Be A Long Road

Deborah Hersman of the National Transportation Safety Board, NTSB, told reporters at a recent press conference that the investigation into the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and its battery problem will be "a long road", and that the interim report due out shortly is merely the start.

The entire Boeing 787 Dreamliner has been grounded worldwide following high profile incidents with JAL and ANA in which the plane's battery overheated and caused a fire, and the fuel dump on a taxiway in Boston by a JAL 787 Dreamliner on January 8.

787 Dreamliner Grounded After More Mishaps

The FAA has issued an airworthiness directive grounding all 787 Dreamliners worldwide. 787's can not return to the air until an airline or the plane's maker, Boeing, can prove the batteries and its compartment, are safe.

Two Japanese airlines have grounded their entire Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleets after another mishaps with an ANA plane this time. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has had several high profile incidents since its debut as the airplane manufacturers newest plane.

Boeing's 787 Dreamliner To Undergo Complete Review By FAA Following High Profile Mishaps

The FAA has ordered a comprehensive review of Boeing's newest aircraft, the 787 Dreamliner following several high profile mishaps. There have been several mechanical incidents which either forced a scheduled flight to be canceled, as in the case of a JAL flight in Seattle, an a United flight in Newark as well as a recent fire onboard a JAL in Boston and a fuel leak on a JAL, also in Boston.

Federal Judge Rules United Airlines Not Responsible For Security Lapses That Lead To 9/11 Hijackings

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has ruled that United Airlines bears no responsibility for the 9/11 security lapses that lead to the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center on Sept 11, 2001.

Judge Hellerstien dismissed a lawsuit against United and its parent United Continental Holdings that was brought by Larry Silverstein, the leaseholder of the World Trade Center property.

In the lawsuit, Silverstein claimed United was negligent in security screening. Most legal experts had long predicted the lawsuit would go nowhere but that Silverstein had a duty to bring the lawsuit.
