U.S. And Russia To Support Mediation Within Syrian Conflict

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said the U.S. had Russia have agreed to support meditation talks in Syria with all sides participating in the hope of ending the 21-month civil war and forces hundreds of thousands of refugees into camps in Turkey and Jordan.

However, as part of the mediation, Clinton said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad must leave and give up power as part of any deal. The agreement comes as there are new reports that Syrian military forces have begun moving chemical weapons and equipping rockets with the dangerous munitions.

U.S. Denies Russian Request To Send Convicted Arms Dealer Viktor Bout Back To Russia

The United States has denied a formal Russian request send send convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout back to Russia to serve his sentence in his home country according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Bout was the subject of a movie called "Lord of War".

"We have received with concern the decision by the U.S. Department of Justice in relation to Viktor Bout," Dolgov told Interfax. Dolgov said that Moscow "will continue to use all diplomatic and legal options to send Viktor Bout to Russia."

Russia And U.S. Agree To New Adoption Safeguards of Children

The United States and Russia have agreed to adopt new safeguard to prevent adoption scandals and human trafficking and will go into force on November 1, 2012.

The new agreement, called "Agreement between the United States of America and the Russian Federation Regarding Cooperation in Adoption of Children", was signed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her Russian counter part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

China Gets An Invite To RIMPAC Naval Exercises For 2014

The U.S. Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta, informed his Chinese counterpart, Gen. Liang Guanglie, while on a recent trip to China that the United States will invite China to participate in RIMPAC.

RIMPAC, Rim of the Pacific Exercise, is the world's largest maritime exercise with 22 nations participating this year.

China's invite is a step forward in miliary relations between the two nations. China previously observed the exercise in 1998, and will be invited to participate in the 2014 RIMPAC exercises by sending a ship.

Arrest Warrant Issued For Controversial Florida Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville By Egypt

An arrest warrant has been issued for the controversial Christian paster Terry Jones (who lives in Gainesville, Florida) for supporting the anti-Muslim film "Innocence of Muslims.

The arrant was issued by Egypt's general prosecutor. Jones is best known of this controversial Quran burning event he conducted two years. He has been charged with charged with attacking Islam, spreading false information and harming national unity.

U.S. Navy Launches Exercise In Persian Gulf Just Off Iranian Coastline

The U.S. Navy has launched IMCMEX-12, a naval exercise focused on clearing mines and targeting Iranian assets. The exercise had been previously announced in July and is being conducted with over 30 other naval forces from around the world.

Participating are 2 U.S. Aircraft Carriers now permanently based in the gulf, as well as an assortment of minesweepers, guided missile cruisers, naval aircraft, and other assets plus the addition of ships from other naval forces from other countries.

U.S. Navy Ship Fires On A Boat In Persian Gulf; 1 Dead, 3 Injured

The U.S. navy is reporting that one of its re-supply ships, the USNS Rappahannock, was forced to open fire on a small boat that got to close to the ship, killing one and injuring three others. The incident happened about 10 miles from the Jebel Ali port, and 22 miles from Dubai. It is the world's largest man made port with 67 berths and extensive dry dock facilities.
