Northrop Grumman To Add 920 New Jobs In Central Florida

Falls Church, Va.-based Northrop Grumman has announced that it is adding 920 jobs in Melbourne, along with 80 more in St. Augustine in a company-wide realignment in an effort to trim costs. The new jobs in Central Florida however, come at the expense of jobs currently in other states such a New York.

Northrop Grumman Corp. is a defense contractors that manufacturers airplanes, weapons and other defense industry products as well as avionics and civilian commercial products.

U.S. Military Cuts Deep Due To Sequestration And Stalled Congress

Washington, D.C. -

The military has said it is making deep cuts into deployments, maintenance and construction in an effort to save money due to the mandatory spending cuts imposed by congress after congress failed to reach a spending deal on Friday.

Naval officials have said they have delayed or cancelled deployment of an aircraft carrier, 4 air wings, and will furlough thousands of civilian contractors.

Australia To Host U.S. Military Surveillance Systems, Including A Radar System In Exmouth

Following a bilateral security summit Wednesday between U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and their Australian counterparts, Australia is set to host U.S. military surveillance systems.

Included as part of the agreement will be a c-band ground based radar system in Exmouth that will be operated by Australian military forces and a plan to relocate a Space Surveillance Telescope from New Mexico to an as-yet undecided location in Western Australia in 2014.

Iranian Military Jets Fire On U.S. Drone Aircraft Over Persian Gulf

The Pentagon has confirmed a report that two Iranian SU-25 military jets fired on a U.S. drone aircraft while flying over the Persian Gulf last week. The incident happened on Nov 1.

According to the Pentagon, the Iranian military jets fired continuously while the drone aircraft was 15 miles outside of Iranian airspace over the Persian Gulf.

The drone was not hit while it flew in international airspace said the pentagon. The Sukhoi Su-25 is a Russian made military fire jet, nicknamed Frogfoot, and the type Iran has are significantly older models.

Two Navy Sailors Charged With Rape Of Okinawa Woman

Japanese prosecutors have charged U.S. Navy Seaman Christopher Browning of Athens, Texas, and Petty Officer 3rd Class Skyler Dozierwalker of Muskogee, Ok, with rape following an investigation of an incident on october 16.

Following the incident, U.S. troops were put in a curfew restriction to appease local residents who have long wanted the U.S. military out of Japan.

The curfew however was apparently not complied with and prosecutors are now charging an airmen with punching a 13-year-old boy on the face after a late-night drinking binge.

Air Force Unmanned Drone Aircraft MQ-9 Reaper Crashes In The Seychelles Off Africa

A U.S. Air Force Unmanned drone aircraft, MQ-9 Reaper, has crashed in the Seychelles off the coast of Africa on the island of Mahe. The incident occurred at the Seychelles International Airport.

The aircraft was under the control of the U.S. Military's African Command and was patrolling as part of the U.S. effort over maritime surveillance, counterterrorism, counter-piracy and bilateral security engagements with partner nations in that part of the world.

Remains of 274 U.S. Military Troops Dumped At Landfill By Dover AFB Mortuary 2004-2008

Investigators have discovered that the remains of at least 274 U.S. military personnel that died in battle were dumped into a landfill by the Dover AFB Mortuary between 2004 and 2008.

After three whistle blowers, James Parsons, Mary Ellen Spera and William Zwicharowski, sounded the alarm, they were fired but have since regained their jobs after an investigation by the inspector general found their allegations were true and that they are protected under the law.

The F-35 Lightning is America's newest entry for U.S. military forces and is also a stealth fighter.  It is a multi role jet, coming in three variants produced by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.  The primary missions of the F-35 family are ground attack, reconnaissance and air defense and is a descendant of the X-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, JSF.

Hypersonic Flying Bomb Test Successful Says Pentagon, AHW to Move Forward

Washington, D.C. -

The Pentagon has announced its most recent test of the Advanced Hypersonic Weapon, AHW, was a success. Also dubbed the flying bomb, it has reached speeds in excess of Mach 5, or 3,729 mph.

The AHW was launched from Hawaii and glided through the upper atmosphere out over the Pacific Ocean before hitting its mark on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, a U.S. territory. It was estimated to have traveled somewhere between Mach 5 and Mach 7, meaning it can reach anywhere in the world in less than an hour if positioned on U.S. military bases.
