Massive New Hole in Ozone Layer in Northern Hemisphere Over Norway, Greenland and Parts of Russia
Researchers have discovered a massive hole in the ozone layer in the northern hemisphere nearly as large as the one over the Antarctic.
The hole opened up over northern Russia, parts of Greenland and Norway, and is allowing more extremely harmful UV rays known to cause skin cancer and cataracts to penetrate the atmosphere.
Researchers concluded that hole is not man-made from environmental pollution, but rather naturally occurring as a result of strong wind patterns at high altitudes and intense cold.
