US Airways Plane Lands At Newark Liberty International Airport With No Landing Gear

A US Airways plane landed at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey Saturday morning without its landing gear. The plane operated by Piedmont Airlines under the US Express banner was coming from Philadelphia.

The Turboprop plane carried three crew members and 31 passengers landed after an hour in a holding pattern while the crew attempted to solve the problem. After several attempt to get the gear down the decision was made to land the plane on its belly.

US Navy Launches Unmanned Drone Aircraft From Aircraft Carrier For First Time

The US Navy has launched an X-47B pilot-less drone combat aircraft from the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier off the coast of Virginia in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time ever.

Test pilots Bruce McFadden and Dave Lorenz flew the drone made by Northrop Grumman from the flight deck of the carrier during its flight from the carrier.

The successful launch was done yesterday, May 14th, 2013.

Turkish Airlines Completes Order For 70 Boeing 737 Airplanes

Turkish Airlines has completed their order for 70 new Boeing 737's, 40- 737-8, 10-737 Max 9's and 20 NG 737-800 airplanes plus option for 25 more 737 Max 8's.

THe order was first placed in early April and is valued at $6.9 billion at list price.

Turkish Airlines also has 15 Boeing 777-300ER planes as well.

With this order, Boeing has taken orders for 1,285 of the new 737 Max airplanes.

Passengers Force Orlando Flight To Make Emergency Landing

Several passengers on board a Southwest Airlines flight from Orlando to Providence, RI forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Charleston, SC after becoming "unruly" and "disruptive" according to Southwest and FAA officials.

At least three passengers were removed from the flight before it continued onto Providence.

The plane had 134 passengers are crew on board.

The FBI greeted the passengers upon landing in Charleston and escorted them off the plane.

JetBlue Plane Catches Fire, Lands At Orlando International Airport

Orlando, Fla. -

A JetBlue flight from Santo Domingo suffered a fire near the windshield of the Embraer 190 airplane and landed safely at Orlando International Airport Thursday.

The flight was operating from the Dominican Republic to Orlando.

There are no reports of injuries, and the flight crew was able to use a fire extinguisher to out out the flames.

Shots Fired At Houston Airport, Police Find Dead Body At Terminal B

There has been a shooting at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, IAH, just outside terminal B security checkpoint.

An unknown man with a AR-15 assault rifle was spotted by an Air Marshal and fired two shots into the air and was then shot at by the Air Marshal, but missed. He then took his own life by shooting himself with yet another pistol.

United Airlines Is Moving Its 787 Fleet In Preparation For Resuming Flights

United Airlines has begun moving the 6 Boeing 787 Dreamliners from temporary parking storage to have the batteries repaired in preparation for resuming flights laster this month. The FAA approved Boeing's repair plan for the lithium-ion batteries on the airplanes after several high profile incidents in which the batteries caught fire causing the grounding of all 787's worldwide.

United has affirmed its commitment to the new 787's, which are made mostly from light weight composite materials, and said they believe the aircraft are safe and expressed confidence in Boeing.

United Announces Deal To Provide Its Regional Carriers With 76 Seat EMB-175's

Chicago, IL -

United has announced that it will acquire 30 Embraer 175s jets with 76 seats, 12 in first class and 16 in economy plus and 48 in coach to replace the aging ERJ-145's operated by some of its regional carriers.

Under the plan, United will own the aircraft and lease them to one or more of its regional carriers, (believed to be ExpresJet), on certain regional high frequency routes.

Pilot Killed After Experimental Gyrocopter Plane Crashes Into Another Plane In Melbourne Florida

Melbourne, Fla. -

The pilot of a small experimental gyrocopter plane was killed this morning (Monday) after his aircraft slammed into a parked plan at the Valkaria Airport in southern Brevard County.

Witnesses report seeing the plane perform maneuvers shortly before 8:00am before loosing control and slamming into a parked plane near the north end of the runway.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff's department, the pilot had to be extracted out of the plane by specialized Fire/Rescue crews but was dead at the scene.

Congress Approves Bill To End FAA Sequestration Just In Time So Members Can Fly Home

Washington, D.C. -

Last night the U.S. Senate approved a bill that would re-instate $253 million to the FAA from budget cut backs that are part of the overall federal government's sequestration. Early this morning the House following suit. It passed in the Senate unanimously, and in the House with greater than 300 members on both side of the isle supporting the legislation. Congress is set to adjourn this afternoon and fly home for a week long break.
