YouTube Announces It Will Start Charging To Watch Content

YouTube has announced that it will begin charging a subscription fee to watch some content on the popular streaming video website, which is owned by Google.

Under the plan, viewers will pay about .99 cents to subscribe to one channel each month, YouTube will be offering 53 channels.

YouTube has said it will have a wide variety of channel to choose from, but would not give specifics. One show that is known to be part of the plan is Sesame Street.

U.S. Corporations Earn A Record $1.9 Trillion In Overseas Earnings And Offshore Accounts

U.S. companies have earned a record $1.9 trillion in profits in overseas operations and offshore accounts according to reports.

Multinational Conglomerate General Electric earned the most profit in its overseas operations at $108 billion, and coming in second was drugmaker Pfizer at $73 billion.

Under current tax rules, corporations do not have to pay taxes on income earned overseas as long as they do not intend to bring the money back into the United States.

New Unemployment Claims Down 324,000, Lowest In 5 years

New jobless claims have continued to fall, now at 324,000, which is the lowest since January 2008, just before the start of the recession.

Analyst point out that claims continue to fall as the economy slowly improves, fewer employers have layoffs, and those out of work for long periods have not returned to the job market.

Unemployment is expected to remain unchanged at 7.6% as employers still remain cautious about hiring.

As Economy Recovers, The Rich Get Richer And The Poor Get Poorer

As the nation's economy continues to recover from the last recession, the disparity between the rich and the poor has grown according to the Pew Research Center.

The top 7% of American hold holds saw their net worth grow by 28%, while the bottom 93% of U.S. households fell by 4%. In fact, the top 7% owned 68% of all household wealth in the U.S. as of 2012.

MetroPCS Customers To Loose Service Once Merger WIth T-Mobile Is Complete

According to T-Mobile's merger plan, MetroCS customer will loose their service coverage once the merger is complete and MetroPCS towers are shut down.

T-Mobile's merger with MetroPCS will add 9 million more customers to the nation's smallest network, but will still lag behind Sprint significantly.

T-Mobile is owned by the German firm Deutsche Telekom AG and MetroPCS is based on Dallas, Texas.

T-Mobile plans to use MetroPCS's airwave frequencies and capacity to upgrade its own network and built its high speed LTE network.

U.S. Retail Sales Fall As Sequestration, Higher Taxes And Weak Hiring Set In

The Commerce Department is reporting that retail sales fell by the greatest amount in nine months as resident are faced with higher taxes due to sequestration, and weak hiring by employers, down .04% from February to March.

Analyst say that despite the lower number in consumer spending, its not exactly as bad as one might think, for one reason, spending on gas is down significantly, 2.2%, but that is because of lower gas prices and the report does not take into account price fluctuation.

Bankruptcy Judge Rejects $20 Million Severance For AMR Chief Tom Horton

Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane has denied AMR's $20 million severance package that was to be given to AMR Chief Tom Horton, AMR is the parent company of American Airlines which is still in bankruptcy and recently agreed to merge with U.S. Airways after significant pressure and a long campaign by U.S. Airways to American's creditors and unions.

In his ruling, Judge Lane said the payout was not allowed under bankruptcy law.

The severance package of about $19.9 million was divided equally between cash and stock, and was part of the companies' merger agreement in February.

These and others like eBay and 200 others have jumped onto the band wagon arguing DOMA increases their cost, and forces them to discriminate against portions of their employees, depending on which state they live in, saying it is not equal protection under the law.

Target Pledges To Price Match Year Round

Minneapolis based Target has said it will make its temporary holiday policy of price matching its competitors permanent following disappointing holiday sales.

Target is the nations second largest discount retailer after Wal-Mart, but widely considered a step up in quality of products and customer service.

The new policy is effective immediately and will be valid for prices found at Amazon, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Best Buy and Wal-Mart online websites.
