79 Year Old Woman Crashes Into Target While Receiving Driving Tips

A 79 year old practicing to get her driver’s license restored confused the gas for the brake pedals and crashed into a Target on Thursday. The Ocala woman Norma Joan was receiving driving tips from her pastor when the incident occurred.

Joan told officers that she had her licenses for 50 years before it was taken away for medical reasons. The driver was cited with driving with a license suspended or revoked. The Passenger Pastor Holsapple was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive his vehicle.

Florida Attorney General Announces Suit To Be Filled From BP Oil Spill

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced she will file suit against BP and Hlliburton over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The suit seeks economic damages that occurred from the explosion at the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that killed 11 three years ago.

Florida along with the state of Mississippi and the city of Tampa announced the suit under the Oil Pollution Act. It’s alleged that Florida is owed lost revenues from sales taxes, corporate taxes, and other business related taxes.

Police Looking For Krystle Duarte Of Ocala After Stealing TV From Walmart

Police in Ocala are searching for 24-yeara-old Krystle Duarte after she was caught stealing a 46" Sony flat screen TV from Walmart and attempted to steal a second one.

According to police, Duarte changed clothes and went back inside Walmart a second time attempting to steal another TV when she was confronted by the store's security guard. That's when she hit the security guard and fled say police.

She is being sought for grand retail theft and one count of resisting a merchant and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Police Searching For 2 Men In Burglary At Cranes Landing Apartments

Orange County, Fla. - BREAKING NEWS

Orange County deputies are reporting there has been a burglary at the Cranes Landing Apartments on Goldenrod Road, near University Blvd, in Winter Park.

Deputies have set up a perimeter and brought in a helicopter and K-9 units in an effort to find the two suspects.

They are described only as 2 Hispanics males, one wearing a hoodie.

George Zimmerman's Defense Attorney Mark O'Mara Releases Witness List;. SEE FULL LIST

Defense Attorney Mark O'Mara has released the second witness list in the upcoming trial of George Zimmerman who is accused of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin with a single shot to the chest at point blank range citing self defense.

On the list is officials, officers and employees with nearly every law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in Sanford Florida, including Seminole County, the city of Sanford, FDLE, medical examier's office, and the state prosecutors office.

Carnival Says It Will Upgrade Ship Systems Following High Profile Disasters

Miami, Fla. -

Miami based Carnival Cruises has announced that it will be upgrading its all of its ships with improved systems following recent high profile disasters like the Costa Concordia which killed 35 when it sank, and the Triumph which has to be towed across the Gulf of Mexico to Mobile Alabama after loosing power, leaving passengers stranded with power, A/c working toilets or elevators.

Among the new improvements will be the addition of a new back-up generator, in addition to the one that already exists on its ships, and a new fire suppression system.

Florida Set To Execute Elmer Leon Carroll For Rape And Murder Of Girl

Florida State Prison at Stark will execute 56-year-old Elmer Leon Carroll who was convicted of the 1990 rape and murder of a 10-yar-old Apopka girl.

The incident happened the night before Halloween in 1990 when prosecutors said he broke into the home where Christine McGowan lived and raped her then suffocated her.

Carroll is scheduled to be executed May 28 at 6:00pm pending further appeals or stays to the U.S. Supreme Court.

IOA Corporate 5K Run In Orlando To Have Tighter Security Following Boston Marathon Bombing

Orlando, Fla. -

Organizers of the IOA Corporate 5k run in downtown Orlando along with the Orlando Police have said they will be increasing overall security and police presence for the run following the Boston Marathon bombing which killed three people so far and injured another 134.

16,000 runners are expected to participate in the run drawing contestants from all over the country and a few foreign places as well.

The route is rectangular and will follow Central Blvd, Bumby, Robinson and Rosalind, encircling Lake Eola.

Street Racer Sought After Crashing Into Truck And Power Pole Causing Outages

Orange County, Fla. -

Deputies are searching for the driver of a car that they say was street racing Tuesday night on Clarcona Ocoee Road when he lost control and hit a truck and then a power pole knocking it down and causing an outage to hundreds of electrical customers.

After the crash the driver fled on foot. The driver of the truck is also missing.

Power was restored later that night to local residents.

Disney 'Wonder' Cruise Ship Rescues Stranded Rafters Off Key West

Disney's cruise ship 'Wonder' spotted migrant rafters that had become distressed about 42 miles off the coast of Key West, in the Straits of Florida, and provided emergency services.

According to Disney spokesperson Rebecca Peddie, the rafters were given food, water and medical attention and turned over to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Their nationalities have not been made public yet.

The Coast Guard reported there were no injuries.
