Italian Judge Orders Costa Concordia Capt. Francesco Schettino To Stand Trial For Manslaughter

Italian judge Pietro Molino has agreed with prosecutors that the captain of the sunken ship Costa Concordia should stand trial for manslaughter.

32 people died after the ship traveled off course near the island of Giglio so that a friend could see the island. The ship hit underwater rocks and reefs which caused the ship to sink on Jan 13, 2102.

Personal Body Scanner Becomes A Reality Following Tricorder From Star Trek

San Francisco, CA -

Mountain View, Calif. based Scanadu has developed a personal tricorder called the 'Scout' that will retail for $199, which is another example of current technology following Star Trek.

CEO Walter de Brouwer developed the Scout at NASA's Ames Research Center in an effort to help his son who had been in a car accident and felt lost after his son's medical monitors were disconnected as he improved.

Microsoft Announces Its New Gaming Console, The 'Xbox One'

Microsoft has announced the next gaming console, the Xbox One.

Don Mattrick, Microsoft president of interactive business said in remarks that "It's time for technology to step behind the curtain and for you and entertainment to take center stage."

Among the new features being touted on the Xbox One are voice commands, cloud integration and universal gestures.

The Xbox One comes with an upgraded controller. Microsoft says the new device has 40 new design innovations, including impulse triggers, Wi-Fi direct radio stack, integrated battery compartment and a precision directional pad.

Death Toll Drops To 24 From Tornado In Moore Oklahoma; Many Are Children; Airport Damaged

The mounting death toll in yesterday's tornado in Moore Oklahoma has dropped to 24 from previous reports putting it at 90. 7 children were killed when a wall fell on the children in the school according to Moore Police Chief Jerry Stillings. He added that he believes the remaining children have been accounted for saying he "felt pretty good" about accounting for the kids.

Yahoo Purchases Blogging Site Tumblr For $1.1 Billion

“We promise not to screw it up”, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer blogged today from newly acquired Tumblr today. Yahoo purchased the blogging website for $1.1 Billion. Rumors began to circulate last week about the purchase.

Mayers said that Tumblrs current CEO and founder David Karp will remain in place. Yahoo plans on keeping Tumblr a separate company and brand.

Tornadoes Rip Across Oklahoma, Iowa, And Kansas

Residents in Oklahoma, Iowa, and Kansas are cleaning up after 28 tornadoes’ ravaged their states Sunday and early Monday. So far only one fatality reported in Pottawatomie County Oklahoma. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has declared a state of emergency with her state being hit hardest.

Iowa & Kansas received the least amount of damage as the tornadoes missed most populated areas. All three states are reporting large power outages with crews working to restore power as soon as possible.

Iran Executes Alleged U.S. And Israeli Spies

Iran has claimed that it has executed spies that were working for the CIA and the Israeli spy agency Mossad.

State media reports that Mohammad Heidari was accused of working with the Mossad and Kourosh Ahmadi was working with the CIA. Both were executing by hanging reportedly.

There has been no official verification of this, but Iran routinely "executes" spies who say are working to undermine its nuclear technology.

No dates were given as to when either men were executed or when they were arrested and put on trial.

France Is Trying To Buy Unmanned Drone Aircraft From U.S. Or Israel

France's defense minister, Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, has confirmed that France has begun talks with the United States and Israel in an effort to buy unmanned drone aircraft as part of its war fighting capabilities.

The move comes after France learned during its military action into Mali that is has fallen behind in military capability and had to rely on the U.S. for transportation and intelligence.

Egyptian Police Block Israeli Border Crossing

Egyptian police have blocked the Nitzana border crossing with Israel, al-Awja as it is known in Egypt, after Islamist kidnap seven Egyptian police in the Sinai Peninsula.

This is the second border crossing, the first was Rafah, by Egyptian police who are protesting the kidnapping of fellow policemen in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and the government's lack of efforts to get their fellow officers back safely and to stop the kidnappings.
