Israel Launches Airstrike Against Syria Friday

U.S. Officials are indicating that Israel may have launched an air strike into Syria late Friday. Leaders in Israel have long said they would strike at any targets that prove to be the transfer of any kinds of weapons to Hezbollah or other terrorist groups.

Syria says they have no knowledge of any attacks. The Israeli government officially has no comment on the situation. Top U.S. leaders deferred all questions to Israel

Firefighters In California Expecting Help From The Weather In Southern California Wildfires

The wildfires in California have nearly tripled in size but relief is expected with a shift in weather on Saturday. The fires epicenter is 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles encompasses 43 square miles endangering homes. Over 900 fire fighters have been battling the blaze with only a dozen or so homes damaged and no injuries.

This latest fire is among 680 fires that have been battled this year. This is over 200 more than average. The increase is being blamed on unusual weather patterns. The Santa Ana winds helped spread fires while dry conditions and low humidity created more fuel.

California Wildland Fire Burns 15 Square Mile Path To Pacific Ocean

Los Angeles, CA -

A wildland fire that has been burning in Ventura County has now burned more than 15 square miles and is making its way through canyons towards the Pacific Ocean.

So far, 15 homes have been damaged and evacuations have forced thousands from their homes as the fire continues.

Fire officials have said the fire could flare back up, and they are not yet in control of the fire.

High winds and hot temperatures are expected to make for another hard day of firefighting according to CalFire.

Intel Board Elects Brian Krzanich As Next CEO As Company Continues Bad Choices

The board of Intel has elected Brian Krzanich as its next CEO, replacing Paul Otellini, who is retiring. Intel has come under increasing pressure as it failed to get into the mobile chip market with the rise of smartphones and tablets, instead banking on Ultrabooks, which has so far, flatlined with consumers.

Krzanich is a chemical engineer by education and training and rose up the ranks within the company after starting with Intel in 1982 in New Mexico.

2 Iranians Found Guilty In Kenya Of Terrorism Plans And Possession of Explosives

A Kenyan court has found two Iranians, Ahmad Mohammed and Sayed Mousavi, guilty of possession of explosives and plotting to carry out bombings in Kenyan cities.

The Nairobi court passed down the verdict following the arrests of the two Iranians last June and the subsequent investigation. Eventually the two plead not guilty and were confronted with evidence during the trial. It is believed the FBI assisted in the investigation.

Both face up to 15 years in prison.

It is still not known if the two are connected to any known terrorist groups.

North Korea Sentences American To 15 years Compulsory Labor In Prison

A North Korean court has sentenced 44-year-old Kenneth Bae to 15 years in prison with "compulsory labor" after being detained and found guilty of plotting to overthrow the government.

Bae was detained in North Korea last November when he was with a group of tourist.

Bae was a tour operator and owned "Nation Tours", providing guided tours to North Korea. After entering the country in November on a five-day trip, he was caught taking a picture of a street orphan and detained according to others in the group who were able to leave.

As Economy Recovers, The Rich Get Richer And The Poor Get Poorer

As the nation's economy continues to recover from the last recession, the disparity between the rich and the poor has grown according to the Pew Research Center.

The top 7% of American hold holds saw their net worth grow by 28%, while the bottom 93% of U.S. households fell by 4%. In fact, the top 7% owned 68% of all household wealth in the U.S. as of 2012.

France To Become 14th Nation To Approve Gay Marriage

France is set to approve gay marriage after its lower house of Parliament approved gay marriage legislation. The vote was 331-225 and followed increased homophobic attacks on suspected gays across the country after the Catholic church lead an effort to prevent its approval.

French President François Hollande championed the legislation he submitted, "marriage for all", as part of his socialist left-leaing stance that got hi m elected.

Federal Task Force Uses Blackberry Messenger To Arrest Suspected Major Drug Ring

Los Angeles, CA -

Federal officials have arrested 27-year-old Rafael Urena and issued a warrant for 27 year-old Milton Urena after a federal task force an investigation called "Operation Family Guy" which used Blackberry Messenger, email and text messages obtains through wiretaps and undercover agents.

Officials say the two bothers were responsible for a major cocaine smuggling operation to Italy and in the U.S. as well as methamphetamines across the U.S.

Milton is believed to be in the Dominican Republic and is now listed as a fugitive.

FDA Approves "Plan B" Pill To All Women 15 And Older Without Prescription

Washington, D.C. -

The Food and Drug Administration, FDA, has approved the controversial morning after pill called Plan B for all girls and women 15 years and older without a prescription.

The FDA says the change was not directly related to a federal court order last month ordering the pill to be made available after the court said it could not find any rational scientific basis for limiting the pill's sale to girls as young as 15.
