Montana Senator Max Baucus Believed To Be Retiring

Montana Democratic Senator Max Baucus is planning to retire according to party insiders. Baucus has served six terms as one of Montana's two senators.

Baucus serves on the powerful Senate Finance Committee and is facing a tough re-election battle in 2014.

According to state party members, this will allow the more popular former Democratic Gov. Brian Schweitzer of Montana to run for the seat.

Despite being a democrat, Baucus is one of a few democrats who voted against gun reform legislation in the senate recently.

Republican Party In Turmoil After Conservative Groups Threaten To Leave

Several conservative republican groups have written letters threatening to leave the party if the GOP does not reaffirm its stance to win a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and supporting the Defense of Marriage Act.

Among the several letter writters were Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, Phyllis Schlafly of the Eagle Forum, James Dobson of Family Talk Action and Marjorie Dannenfelser of Susan B. Anthony List.

Obama's Federal Budget Cuts And Tax Plan Angers Both Republicans And Democrats

President Obama has sent his version of a federal budget to congress setting off complaints from both sides of the aisle, democrats and republicans, who say his $3.77 trillion budget is unrealistic.

Republicans are upset with the budget proposal because Obama seeks to raise taxes on the richest Americans and democrats don't like the buts to socials security and medicare.

Former Florida GOP Chairman Sentenced To 18 Months In Prison In Orlando Courtroom

Circuit Judge Marc Lubet has sentenced Jim Greer to 18 months in state prison after being convicted of stealing $125,000 in party money. Prosecutors had pushed for 3 1/2 years in prison.

Greer pleaded guilty after a pending trial threatened to expose the inner workings of Florida's Republican Party say legal experts watching the trial in which even more than the exotic trips to the Bahamas, prostitution and other free-spending ways could have possibly come out.

Arabs Set Up $1 Billion Fund For East Jerusalem With No Intent To Actually Give It

Jerusalem, Israel -

On Tuesday the Arab League approved a proposal by Qatar's emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, to set up a $1 billion fund for East Jerusalem, a move widely seen as political and a house of cards.

The Emir said Qatar would donate $250 million to the fund, which he said is meant to preserve "the Arab and Islamic character of the city and reinforce the steadfastness of its people".

Under the plan, the Islamic Development Bank based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia will manage the fund.

GOP Shakeup; House Budget Committee Boots Tea Party Members

The House of Representatives House Budget Committee has booted two of their own, conservative Tea Party members Tim Huelskamp of Kansas and Justin Amash of Michigan.

Both Huelskamp and Amash have consistently voted against Hose Speaker John Boehner.

Political analyst say the move will make it easier for republicans to make a deal with democrats while conservatives say its part of an overall plan by moderate republicans like Boehner to marginalize Tea Party members.

Senate Judiciary Committee Approves New Legislation Protecting Internet Privacy

The Senate Judiciary Committee has approved new legislation that would require police to get a warrant to see your email. It is part of an overhaul of the nations laws governing privacy in the digital age.

The current set of laws, the 1986 Electronic Communications Privacy Act, have been described by many as outdated. Currently police only need a warrant for emails less than six months old. In the new law, police will be required to get a warrant for any of your emails, regardless of how new or old they are.

Nephew Of Former President George Bush Files Paperwork To Run For Next Election

The son of Jeb Bush, George Prescott Bush, has filed his election paperwork in Texas, to be eligible under campaign finance law, to run for office in Texas. George P. Bush is Hispanic, with his mother being from Mexico.

The 36-year-old owner of a consulting firm in Fort Worth is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, nephew of George W. Bush, former President of the United States.
