Obama Threatens To Veto Student Loan Bill; OMB Calls The Bill Politically Motivated

President Barack Obama has threatened to veto a bill by republicans that keeps the federal student loan rate lower, something that was about to go up, nearly doubling from 3.4% to 6%. Both Obama and republicans had recently said they need to act to keep the rate from going up.

The OMB has called the bill "politically motivated" and said the republicans were not at all "serious" about lowering the federal student loan rate, going on to say this is political "grand-standing" so they can say they tried to lower the federal student loan rate but Obama blocked it.

As the republican primary race draws to a close with Mitt Romney becoming the presumptive nominee, the financial reports of the two campaigns for March has been released with Barack Obama having $104 million in the bank and Romney with just $10.1 million.

Hoping to give the Romney campaign a boost, Sen. Marco Rubio has confirmed that he will attend several campaign stops with Romney. Their first campaign stop will be in Pennsylvania.

Florida Gov Rick Scott Launches Gun Task Force To Review The Controversial Stand Your Ground law and other gun laws

Gov. Rick Scott has formed his new task force that will look into Florida's gun laws, including the controversial Stand Your Ground law invoked by George Zimmerman over his Feb 26 shooting of Trayvon Martin.

Scott said, "This task force is going take input form people about public safety. Stand Your Ground is part of it, but thank God we live in a state where crime is at a 40-year low. I want to keep it that way."

US Foreign Oil Imports Down 10%, Domestic Production Highest Since 2003

According to a federal review by six federal agencies, net oil imports to the U.S. is down 10% from last year and is on track to meet President Obama's pledge to reduce foreign dependance on oil by one third within 10 years. Meanwhile, domestic production is up, its highest since 2003 as the Obama administration seeks to move the nation to energy independence. Canada is currently the leading foreign oil importer to the U.S.
