London Marathon kicks Off With Moment Of Silence For Boston And Black Ribbons

The London Marathon kicked off its annual race with a 30-second moment of silence and many runners and spectators wearing black ribbons to honor those killed and injured in the Boston Marathon bombing.

The London Marathon is the first in the annual series of major races around the world and drew 36,000 runners and about 200,000 spectators along the 26 mile route which starts in Greenwich, crosses Tower Bridge, snakes through the Canary Wharf business district before heading to Big Ben and finally Buckingham Palace.

Orlando Magic Forward Hedo Turkoglu Given 20 Game Suspension For Steroid Use

NBA Officials have suspended Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu for 20 games without pay after testing positive for steroid use. The anabolic steroid Methenolone is used to treat aplastic anemia is on a list of over 125 substances banned by the NBA.

In a press conference Wednesday Turkoglu said that he was given the substance while in his native Turkey over the summer to help him recover from a shoulder injury. Turkoglu said that this was an “error in judgment” as he apologized to his fans and the team.

Hector 'Macho' Camacho Has Died After Life Support Removed

Three time world champion Hector 'Macho' Camacho has died after being taken off life support. Camacho has been on life support after being shot in the face outside a nightclub in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, just outside of San Juan.

The 50-yeaar-old Puerto Rican boxer fought the likes of Oscar de la Hoya, Sugar Ray Leonard and Felix Trinidad over his three decades in boxing.

During the shooting, his friend Adrian Mojica Moreno was also killed in the attack. Police found cocaine on Moreno and inside the car.

International Cycling Union Strips Lance Armstrong Of Tour De France Titles

In another blow to Lance Armstrong, the International Cycling Union, ICU, has stripped Armstrong of his seven Tour de France wins after receiving USADA's decision that Armstrong engaged in widespread doping and performance enhancing drugs.

Adding further pain to Armstrong, he is being asked to pay back millions in financial compensation and sponsorship money he has received over the years.

Lance Armstrong Steps Down As Chief of LiveStrong Foundation, Nike Says It Will Remain Part Of It

Lance Armstrong has announced that he is stepping down from the foundation he started, LiveStrong, and Nike also said it is severing ties with Armstrong following the doping scandal investigation by the USADA.

Armstrong reportedly stepped down to spare the charity hardship.

Stetson University Fields First Football Team In 56 Years

Stetson University has returned to football by fielding its first team in 56 years. More than 100 players, mostly freshmen, have been recruited and joined the newly formed team that is ran by head coach Roger Hughes, who previously coached at Princeton.

The Stetson Hatters will be competing in the Pioneer Football League, a Division I Football Championship Subdivision conference.

Training camp has already began, but the school's first game won't be until next year.

Michael Phelps Ties Olympic Record For Most Medals Won Ever

Michael Phelps won the Silver metal today in the men's 200 butterfly race making him tied with Soviet gymnast Larissa Latynina for the most metals ever won at the Olympics. Phelps finished 05. seconds behind South Africa's Chad le Clos who won Gold by passing Phelps in the last meters of the race.

Phelps' medal count now stands at 14 gold, two silver, two bronze. He won the other silver in the 4x100 freestyle relay here.

American Kimberly Rhode Wins Gold In Skeet Shooting

LONDON - Kimberly Rhode won the gold medal in women's skeet shooting Sunday, making her the first American to take an individual-sport medal in five consecutive Olympics.

Rhode won a gold medal in double trap at Atlanta as a teenager in 1996, took bronze in that event four years later at Sydney, re-claimed the gold at Athens in 2004 and won the silver in skeet at Beijing in 2008.

She set an Olympic record in qualifying, missing only one of her 75 shots.
